Hey guys I'm a new writer and this is my first fan fiction so I'd be grateful for any advice on how to improve my story or even a comment praising it either way I'd appreciate it. Anyway this is the first chapter so it's a bit short I'm waiting to see what people will say about it and I'll try to improve in the rest of the story.

Okay well I've read over the story and I'm slightly altering some parts and I'm gonna join some of the smaller chapters together I'm writing this in case someone gets confused as to why there's less chapters.

Chapter 1: The Funeral

The old man's name was Don Wei, The once great star race manager who had led the Earth team from the pre-selections on Alwas to the finals on Oban where he led them to victory against the other eight finalists. After the Great Race of Oban he returned to Earth with his daughter Eva, who had joined the team under a false identity. Although he didn't like the idea of his daughter becoming a famous Star racer pilot he couldn't stop her from becoming one so he became her manager and coached her into winning six major league titles, as well as a few interplanetary ones, making her more famous than her mother Maya had been. That had been over a decade ago before he retired as a manager at the age of fifty two, he had been doing well in retirement when he suddenly caught a life-threatening illness a few years back, he was now seventy two years old and it was obvious he didn't have much time left.

He had been in hospital for six months now and despite all the treatments and medication he got he was getting worse, the doctors were saying that it was partly because he was old and he was losing the will to live. The girl with short black and red hair was sitting at the side of the bed as she always was, holding his hand, the girl's name was Eva Wei one of the, if not the, best star racer pilots alive. She'd been staying in the hospital for the last week as her father got worse and worse, she knew that he was dying and although she was devastated by it she was glad that he'd had a good life and done things most people could only dream of, she was glad she'd made that decision all those years ago to run away from the Stern boarding school. Although it had taken a while for him to realise who she was and even longer to apologise to her for abandoning her for so long, they had eventually set aside the past and had a good future together.

She hoped that he would make it long enough to see her getting married but she knew that it was a hopeless thought. She automatically grabbed the crescent moon necklace her father had given her on her eighteenth birthday. Aikka had been dropping in throughout the week to check on her and to pay his respects to Don but he wouldn't be able to stay long since he had to take on more responsibilities back home on Nourasia since he was the prince and he was getting married he had to prepare to become king when his father stepped down, it was a big responsibility but Aikka was coping.

All of a sudden the machine that had been slowly beeping to Don Wei's pulse had slowed and was continuing to slow.

"Nurse!" Eva yelled springing into action. "His pulse is dropping!"

A nurse and a doctor ran into the room and the nurse took Eva outside the door as the doctor ran over to Don and injected him with something.

"No I need to stay with him." Eva protested as the nurse tried to lead her outside the room.

"There's nothing you can do for him just stay here," The nurse told her as she was finally able to take Eva outside the room she turned and went back into the room as the doctor called her. Eva watched through the window, dread filling every part of her body, she watched in horror as the doctor took out a pair of metal objects and started rubbing them together.

"Clear!" He shouted as he pressed them to Don's chest, Eva tried not to cry as her father's lifeless body spasmed. The doctor tried again determined.

"Clear!" he shouted a second time and pressed the objects to Don's chest, the body spasmed again with no result.

There was silence as the doctor slowly put down the object and looked at the computer, he looked at the nurse and shook his head. Outside the room Eva collapsed on the floor and covered her face in her hands as she cried. She felt a hand on her shoulder and looked up to see Aikka's sad blue eyes looking at her. He sat down next to her and pulled her into a hug as she started crying onto his shoulder showing no signs of stopping.

"I'm sorry Eva, I'm really sorry." Aikka said softly as he stroked her red and black hair attempting to comfort her.

The funeral took place two days later, in the same graveyard her mother was buried in.

"At Least you'll be together now." Eva thought as the coffin was lowered into a grave next to her mother.

Aikka hugged Eva as she cried. She took one last look at the coffin as it was lowered into the ground,

"I love you dad," she wept just as the coffin disappeared under a pile of soil. She felt alone, She wanted to be alone, But she couldn't she had to be strong she buried her head in Aikka's chest and cried.

Later on that day.

Eva strapped her bag to G'Dars side and gave the giant beetle a pat. Aikka had come to take her back to Nourasia where they would be married. She had been left the house in Don's will but she felt it carried just too many memories so she had given to her friend and ex-pilot Rick Thunderbolt since she wouldn't be needing it. She had left Wei Racing in the hands of Stan and Koji knowing that they'd be able to take care of the place. She'd wanted to say bye to them but sadly they were elsewhere and so a message to each of them was all that he could do.

"Eva are you ready to go?" Asked Aikka,

Eva took one last look at her home knowing she would never be returning here.

"Yes, I'm ready to go," She replied peeling her eyes away and climbing on G'Dar's back.
