This is a tribute to Sergeant John Munch. I think he sees a lot more than people give him credit for.
John Munch sees a lot more than everyone thinks. He knows things about people, sometimes they are things they don't even know about themselves.
Munch knows about Olivia's assault at Sealview just by watching her in the weeks after. He knows that Elliot would rather die than have the squad see him look weak after the shooting of Jenna.
Munch knows that Fin's family complications go way back, and that the permanent crease between his eyes isn't likely to go away anytime soon. He knows the captain's dedication to the squad is in part to fill up the hole that used to be his wife.
Munch knows what Nick is going through with his separation from Maria, and with the son he never knew about. He knows that while everyone else sees Amanda as back to normal, she's still hurting a lot inside from what her sister did to her.
Munch knew even before Elliot that Olivia was sleeping with Cassidy before, and was the first one to figure out Liv's mystery man. He knows that Alex never really got over Sam Cavanaugh.
Munch knows that there is something else behind Rafael Barba's sarcastic remarks and exaggerated faces. He knows that Casey still can't look Lena Petrovsky in the eye.
Munch knows that it never really was Sonya Paxton's fault. He knows that despite George's easy manner and calm demeanor, the man has seen more than anyone should ever have to see.
Munch knows that he'll probably never stop missing Monique Jeffries, the only one who really got him. He knows that Chester Lake really did have good intentions, despite the fact that he acted rather young sometimes.
Munch knows that Kim Greylek had a big heart, even though she sometimes spoke too soon. He knew that Melinda was terrified the day she was shot and not quite as calm inside as out.
Munch knows about Elliot and Dani Beck. He knows there must have been a reason behind Liz Donnelly's strict attention to the legal system.
Munch knows what was behind Jo Marlowe and the cancer. He knows that Sherri West switching to a defense attorney wasn't as bad as everyone made it seem.
Munch knows that a little of Gillian Hardwicke's 92% conviction rate didn't come without losing some of her conscience. He knows that Michael Cutter does indeed have a soft side.
Munch knows that Ryan O'Halloran didn't like to talk much, but when he did, he has something important to say. He knows that Bayard Ellis truly is on the side of justice.
