The Call

prologue

Caroline Forbes. Tall, blonde, beautiful... There were so many words that Klaus could use to describe her. Nothing could compete with her beauty... She underestimated herself though. She was a creature of the night. A hunter. A ravishing one at that. Klaus hd never felt this way about anyone before. Anyone.

Klaus wanted to show her the world. Show e beauty of life outside of Mystic Falls. Show her everything he had to offer. Show her what she meant to him. But... There was one thing in the way.

Tyler Lockwood.

A growl escaped Klaus' lips as the thought of that hybrid came into his mind. Caroline deserved better. If he said that she would scoff and give him that look. The one that meant "Are you for real?!" Her beautiful big blue eyes glaring at him... She would ask him who. Who would be better for her. And Klaus would be words away from saying himself. Nicklaus Michaelson.

He would play that dream a million times in his head. Wishing desperately for it to be true! He could solve this Tyler problem easily. Snap his neck.

Simple.

Dead.

Done.

But...It wasn't that simple... Klaus thought of what Caroline would say. What she would think! He knew he was a monster. He didn't care. He didn't care that everyone else thought he was a monster. However, Caroline knew he was a monster. She had called him a monster! And he cared about that. He cared that Caroline thought he was a monster. Caroline... Dear, sweet, Caroline...

Killing Tyler would ruin the small relationship they had. Damn that stupid werewolf!

And now, the Original vampire turned round the corner of the path he was walking down and stopped and ducked back ever so slightly. There, sitting on a bench with the doppelgänger and the witch, was Caroline. She was laughing. A thing she didn't do often. Well, not when Klaus was there... She was happy. Klaus loved seeing her happy. He wished he could make her happy. He could! If she just gave him the chance!

Klaus smiled and leant back agains the wall he had been standing next to. "Caroline..." He whispered her name and walked back down the road he just came from. As much as he hated to leave, he had things to do.

Meanwhile, Caroline abruptly stopped laughing at the joke Bonnie Bennett had just told her. Someone had said her name. But they said it so low that her vampire hearing had barely just heard it. Was she hearing things? No. She wasn't... Was she?

"Hey Care," Elena Gilbert said. "You okay?"

Caroline smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. Dammit, I lost track of time! I've got to go meet Tyler! Ill see you two tomorrow! Girls night!"

Caroline said goodbye to her friends and placed her earbuds in her ears and listened to the soft music that filled her ears. As she listened to the song, she slowly let the thought of who called her name drift away. But the song slightly reminded of it...

It started out as a feeling

Which then grew into a hope

Which then turned into a quiet thought

Which then turned into a quiet word

And then that word grew louder and louder

Til it was a battle cry

I'll come back

When you call me

No need to say goodbye...
