A random bit of near-drabble...which will probably extend into a regular little mini series of teeny-tiny chapters. Anyway, these will probably all be written in Yusuke's perspective. Strange for me, but there isn't a lot about this that isn't strange. I think way too much.
Hiei doesn't speak a word of Japanese.
I know that sounds strange and a lotta people'd probably say I'm crazy for saying it, but in all reality, I didn't make the connection in the first place. Kurama did. I figure if anyone knows what they're talkin' about, it's probably him.
Anyway, the truth of the matter is that our little sociopath doesn't speak in Japanese. English either, for that matter. Fox boy had a fun time figuring that one out. From what he told me, there's some sort of weird ability youkai have that lets them speak and understand other languages automatically. Not all of them can, but the big glowing eye in the center of Flame's forehead probably has something to do with that.
The interesting part about all of this is that the Half Pint doesn't even know he has this ability…so of course it's our job to take advantage of him until he catches on. And knowing him, we'll get a good five minutes of entertainment before he stalks off. Still, there's a few lines of German I've been dying to try out…
