Chapter I: War
We each have the tools to forge our own destiny.
Some may chose to live their lives in shadow & obscurity,
while others revel in being in the spotlight.
Some use the tools at their disposal to help others,
while others use it for personal gain.
He looked toward the raven-haired woman. She didn't notice the small metal cylinder that landed on the ground behind her. He wasted no time in clearing the distance between the Humvee that was transporting him to the one she was using for cover. The cylinder began to light up a bright blue.
The woman turned & noticed him running towards her. "Get back to the Humvee!"
He could barely make out what she said over all the gunfire around them. All he knew was that he only had mere seconds to get to her.
"SHEGO, MOVE!
The raven-haired woman didn't have a chance to respond. Before she could register the warning, she was pushed into a nearby ditch. Her eyes widened when she realized what he was warning her about. They widened even more when she realized that he was now standing over the device. Before she could even open her mouth to yell, a small humming sound came her ears, followed by the sound of a a small explosion.
Using her comet powers, she shielded her body from the incoming shrapnel. Powering down, she realizes that the person that pushed her out of the way had took the full force of the blast.
The gunfire had stopped & she was being surrounded by heavily-armed men but she didn't care. The one person she respected more than anyone on the planet, who had spent his teen years helping others in need, who had also saved the world single-handed, as well as just saving her life...was laying a few feet away, motionless.
"RON!" she managed to cry out before she was silenced by a forceful blow to the back of her head, rendering her immediately unconscious.
ME: I bet you all are wondering what the heck is going on here. All will be explained in due time. I had this idea last night and it wouldn't go away so here ya go. I know the chapter is very short but stay tuned.
