I was stuck on an island of loneliness
No one could save me from that abyss
And then you came into my life
Gone were all the tough times and all the strife
We were always together always just friends
But I needed more before my time ends
I need you more than anything
You'd be my queen; I'd be your king
You see what's eating me alive
You can see it in my eyes
This secret is breaking out of me
Like a caged bird, yearning to be free
But I'll keep it locked inside my heart
Where it's tearing me apart
I wish I could release these words
Waiting to be free like birds
And so I let my secret go
You shot me down you fly solo
I loved you once; I guess it's true
My love is always misconstrued
I guess our love will never be
So with regret I set you free
I'll leave you be to find your guy
But I'll always be there when you cry
Just remember me, your long lost friend
I'll be there for you 'till the end
