Introductions and Ideas
The instant that Brandon Black set eyes on Selene Lupin, he was hooked. And that was a strange thing, really, because Selene was no beauty. Though tall, fairly pretty, and with probably the loveliest shade of soft orange hair imaginable, she was also rail thin, dangerously pale, and had the look of someone who has spent several days without decent sleep.
So it must have been the eyes, and what he saw in them that attracted Brandon, because there weren't that many other possibilities. And her eyes were magnificent; the deep, clear gray of mountains and storm clouds, without a single fleck to mar them. They were filled with a strange, wild fire, a captivating blaze that captured one's attention and kept it there.
She saw him as soon as he stepped onto the pier, and her eyes never left him until he reached her, so actually finding her was no problem, as Brandon was very adept at locating those who watched him.
Brandon walked the pier to the end, his brown eyes locked on her gray ones and his face pulled into something slightly more polite than his usual devious smirk. He stopped when he reached her.
"You would be Selene?"
"Mm. And obviously you're Brandon. I'm delighted to meet you."
"Funny way of showing it."
"My, my, aren't we rude? No, dearheart, I don't do the smile thing that much." Her eyes flashed mockingly, "Is that a problem?"
Brandon's usual smirk was back, and inside he was laughing. Sassy girl. Hmm, I like her. This should be interesting. At the same time, Selene was giving more thought to the handsome face and laughing eyes before her. God, he did look wonderful! Not at all like Will, but almost better.
"Shall we go then?"
They walked arm-and-arm back along the pier and down the street to a seafood restaurant that she swore was superb…though, considering her size, he had to wonder if her judgement was the best…

Au restaurant, Brandon ordered a lovely-sounding shrimp dish and Selene a miniscule salad and a Coke.
"Should I take your refusal to eat as fair warning that I'm being poisoned?"
She snorted. "If I'd wanted to poison you, I'd have already done it and you'd not know a thing."
"Is that so?"
She didn't dignify his comment with an answer, but instead turned her attention to the matter that had brought this man through several countries and across an ocean. She met his gaze so suddenly that he choked on the mouthful of soda he'd been at; she spoke, and her voice held a slight note of amusement. "So, Padfoot's son and Moony's daughter, together at last. And what kind of trouble do you suppose we can stir up?"
