Title: Unspoken Thoughts
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters in any way, shape, or form. ABC has the right to these lovely people and I'm sure if I worked for them I would be fired for 'jumping the shark' too soon.
Summary: We've all read the mysterious tweets of the closed set for the upcoming 4x10 episode so I took the liberty to write what I think may happen while Castle and Beckett are handcuffed together.
Three hours passed and they were still cuffed at the wrists.
They talked, they bickered, they pieced together the current case, they laughed, and then they talked some more over the time that passed. They also thought.
Although neither could tell what the other was thinking, they both spent the past three hours analyzing how great it was to actually be stuck within such close proximity to one another, but also realizing just how vulnerable it could make them.
It was Castle who broke the silence, "Hey Beckett, I hate to pry-"
Beckett interrupted, "Yeah, right, Castle."
"-hey, hey, not fair," he continued, "but… has any memory come back to you from that night?"
Beckett froze in silence for a moment thinking about how she should respond. She turned to him and caught his eyes, locking in their ever-popular gaze for a mere two seconds, before she realized he knew. He knew she remembered what he confessed to her that dark day at the funeral. They had known each other for far too long at this point for her not catch the emotion that overcame his face next.
Castle's thoughts were confirmed. He had an inkling starting a few weeks back that she may have remembered those three honest words he confessed to her. The fact that she kept her feelings from him hurt him, but at the same time, charmed him. Katherine Beckett heard me. She remembered.
Before he had a chance to respond she was leaning in towards him.
Beckett wasn't sure what overtook her next, but before she knew it she was leaning in towards Castle. Castle. She placed her hand on his cheek and apologized. Surely it crushed him to hear she had been hiding the fact that she heard his confession to her months ago and she felt fallacious for her actions, but she just wasn't ready to tear down that much of the wall she built up since her mother's death all those weeks ago.
He just stared into her hazel eyes taking in all her beauty, and then her lips brushed his briefly before she ebbed back ever so slightly.
It wasn't like the last time they kissed – if you would count that. In the brief moment she caught his lips, a myriad of emotions enveloped them both.
Castle pulled her back in and whispered, "Kate, you don't have to apologize," before he kissed her back. All the feelings they had dodged for the past several weeks came to light in an instant; the words that neither was brave enough to mention traveled through feeling. She kissed him back again, this time with more passion, before they finally broke apart for a breath just gazing at one another smiling.
"Now what?" Beckett murmured with a giggle.
"Well, I guess we should find that key, but being attached at the wrist for a little longer could work for me," Castle joked.
Author's Note: This is my first fic so I apologize if characterization seems a little off. Hopefully you find some enjoyment in this and PLEASE provide me some reviews/feedback for the future :)
