"It has been said that we need just three things in life:

something to do,

something to look forward to

and someone to love"

He sees her sitting in a small food joint. He wants to tell her he thinks he loves her, but he can't. They've never even talked before at school, except for the two times they had been lab partners, and that only lasted a week each time.

He still wants to talk to her though, so he does the next best thing, buys a meal and slides into the stool next to her. Odd, she didn't strike him as the kind of girl that sat at the bar; he always thought she was the type to sit at a secluded table. But, that's what he liked about her. The surprises.

She leans her head away slightly and looks at him out of the corner of her eye, "Hi."

He's slightly shocked she made the first move, until he realizes he's the one who sat next to her.
"Hi." God, this is awkward, why didn't he think this through? And then he knows why. He had been too distracted by the way her black hair fell around her narrow face, and the way her cerulean eyes sparkled beneath the cheap lights.

"So." he realizes he'd been staring at her, and that she thought he had something to say. Other than 'I love you', of course. But he doesn't have anything to say or any plans to talk at all. So he sits on the ripping barstool, looking out the window at the cars that passed by, letting the flash and streak of the headlights blind him.

"Didn't... Expect to see you." her brow crinkles slightly, and his own eyes widen when he realizes what she's thinking. Mentally slapping himself he adds a hasty, "But it's a pleasant surprise." he looks down; realizing his food had gone cold and he hadn't even touched it. But he didn't mind... That much. No, he reminded himself, he didn't mind all. Finally her brow looses the slight crease, and he's glad. Her face was the kind that was meant to be flawless. They fall into a comfortable silence, picking at their food, and it lasts until the ringing of her phone makes them both jump.

She pulls it out a small smile gracing her face as she answers it, uttering a quiet "Hey."

She listens for a second and blushes, breaking into a huge smile and looking up at the door, he follows her gaze and his face falls. At the door stands a boy. Her friend- her boyfriend. And behind him, Tomoe. His girlfriend.

He remembers the real reason he can't tell her he loves her.

"Yukishiro." he greets, offering a small nod, then he turns his attention to the figure behind the white- haired man. "Tomoe." to her he offers a smile.

She looks at him and smiles a small smile, the smile that captured his heart; she had seemed so mysterious that day... He had wanted to learn more about her but she hadn't been responding to his looks and touches. Then he had worked up the nerve to kiss her. And they dated. But neither of them loved each other. He sees Kaoru's face, looking dubiously at Enishi. Well, a guy can hope. And damn, he was hoping.
