(Hey guys. This is a short little fic written for the I-pod Song Shuffle Challenge. Enjoy.
Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor who... I'm afraid the BBC does. The song belongs to The Pouges)
The Doctor sighed as he watched Rose attempt to figure out another one of the TARDIS's many, improvised, controls. Her eyes sparkled with the light of a new challenge and suddenly, he was reminded of another time, another place.
Blonde hair shining beneath the white, artificial light of the hospital. Rose's floral scent playing with his nose. The heat, wondrous heat as his cheeks blushed unwillingly and the natural-ness of the moment as Rose brought her lips up to his and the taste of something so perfectly Rose-like that he simply couldn't place it.
But now, it was like nothing ever happened. After they'd left New New York, Rose didn't appear to think anything had changed. The Doctor merely followed her lead, but that didn't stop him from thinking back to that nanosecond when the universe clicked and everything felt prefect. It didn't stop him from dreaming about what the future could have held, if only Rose didn't act like she wanted to forget the entire thing. It could've been brilliant.
Two soul-mates travelling the stars together, stopping whoever came in their way. Life could've been the stuff of legends, the kind of stories that where passed down through the generations. He'd say magical, if he believed in magic. Life could have been one hell of a fairytale...
