Night Fire

Nat faya, or Nat for short, has lived all his life in Tondisi; however, when giant metal ships fall out of the sky, he knows that his life will never be the same because those ships are just like the one he arrived in 17 years ago. The world just got a lot more exciting and a lot more dangerous.

This will be my first time posting fanfiction, and I have been playing around with this idea for a while now. However, this is also a big undertaking for me with my schedule, so before it genuinely gets underway, I want to get a feel of the community and how you guys would react to this concept. The base for my story is "The 100".

First thing is the timeline; I want to take the start of the story and push it back, but also forward. What I mean is that I want to separate the ground and the earth just a little where the grounders will be one generation behind the base story and the ark will be one generation forward. If you want an explanation for how that works the one I came up with was that the Ark was a much larger structure and instead of the Unity day idea, it was a massive multi-country project to study the physical and psychological effects on space living and thus already existed when the bombs dropped.

The second thing is the Ark, in season one they tried to illustrate a class divide between the elite council members and the working class. In this story, the gap is going to be more apparent and a bigger deal. I don't mean that the ark is a dictatorship, but instead a society with limited social mobility similar to Japan after the Sengoku Jidai, p.s. if you don't know what that is, look it up on google or youtube it's fascinating. So if your parents were farmers you are a farmer, if they are security, you are security, but the confusing part is the council positions. The council is still elected; however, the people who can be voted to a council seat are a select few people, those who claim descent from the original project leaders. Like I said above the ark in my story will have started about four times larger and with about 4200, that number is slightly higher than the calculated (theoretical) amount needed to restart humanity. Now to make the story work some social mobility will be allowed, but that will be limited and falls more under background info that I can go into when writing the prolog.

Now the last thing will be the characters and how they will be the same or relatively different. All the characters seen in the show will appear, but their ages will be slightly different, and their overall personalities could be tweaked ranging from no changes made to drastic. Also, the story will involve a new generation of people, the children, and grandchildren of the ark, but also the parents and elders of the grounders.

This age gap and time change might get me some hate especially from Clexa fans, but I think that this will allow the story to explore some grounders backgrounds. Also, it could change the introduction between Skaikru and the grounders and changes the perspective a bit, due to the harsher regime and reality on the ark and the whole "last surviving human thing." However, as a show of good faith, I am willing to change some things so that a Lincoln Octavia relationship can work, mainly because I thought they worked well together and the way they parted ways.
