Disclaimer: I do not own any characters from Lord of the Rings. J.R.R. Tolkein does.

A/N: I wrote this back in the tenth grade, about two years ago.

Silent Strength

Silently they stand, shoulder to shoulder,

Facing Mordor, facing the sun. In their minds they are sure

Of the one Ring that must be destroyed to grant tranquility

In Middle-earth, as it once was before the war, and so again shall it be.

Silently they stand together, faces brave and shoulders strong.

They think of nothing. With Frodo and Gandalf nothing will go wrong.

With Aragorn's strong lead, and Legolas as a honest friend,

And Boromir, stealthy for greed, and Gimli, fighting beside an Elf his life he will spend.

Silently they stand, staring into the face of Lord Elrond, who is looking back at them, silently wishing.

Like a proud father wishing luck to his children, he wishes luck to his bearers of the Ring.

And silently they depart from one another, telling one another to pack his belonging, it'll be the last time you see her,

For fortitude, love, and hope can fuel this journey, and the passion to destroy the Ring can only make this journey stronger.
