This story is based on something my older sister told me happened during her childhood. It made me laugh, so I thought I might as well share it.
*
They were ten years old, at the time, and walking home from school. Selphie and Kairi had been chatting casually, about this and that, but then Selphie just had to bring up that little thing and turn it into an argument.
"Kairi, you can't be serious." Selphie had snickered, almost smirking as she eyed her friend up and down.
"Of course I am!" Kairi had huffed, crossing her arms and looking to the side. "I'm perfectly capable of getting a boyfriend!" (Never mind the fact they were both only ten.)
Selphie looked her up and down again. "I don't know...you look kinda plain."
Kairi paused, bristling slightly. "I look kind of plain? Looked in a mirror lately?"
Selphie made a little "oh" noise, hand on her mouth. Then she lightly shoved Kairi, only enough to make her stumble slightly to the side and a little off the road.
Right on cue Riku showed up, shoving Selphie completely off the road. She stumbled and hit the ground.
"Pick on someone your own size!" Tidus had appeared, sprinting down the road and tackled Riku to the ground. They wrestled, Riku kicking Tidus's stomach and Tidus pulling hard on Riku's silver hair.
Kairi helped Selphie to her feet and stared in disbelief as Sora casually rounded the corner, saw Riku fighting, and snatched a stick off the ground. Then he started smacking Tidus on the back with it.
"Hey, leave Riku alone!"
"Don't need your help." Riku growled, still wrestling with Tidus.
Impossibly, things got worse. Wakka saw what looked like Sora and Riku ganging up on his friend, and he completely bulled into Sora, who ended up on the ground too. Tidus started attacking Sora's shoulder, and Riku started yanking Wakka's head back by his hair.
The longer the girls stared the funnier it got. Sora started pulling back on Tidus's vest, yanking him backward, but ended up getting trapped underneath Wakka as Riku and the rest starting in on each other with more gusto than before.
The girls' laughter burst forward before they could help it, they snickered to themselves, watching their friends basically mauling each other in their misguided attempt to help.
The boys froze at the laughter, Riku in a comical pose of holding Tidus up by the collar of his shirt, while Sora was frozen in the act of pinning Wakka's arms back.
"What's so funny?" Riku demanded, still holding Tidus.
"You guys." Selphie giggled. "It wasn't that serious."
"But...he shoved you." Tidus said in confusion, staring back and forth.
"Yeah, but I shoved Kairi first."
"And I insulted Selphie."
"But I insulted you first. Oh, I'm sorry Kairi!"
The girls hugged, then Riku punched Tidus once more for good measure before letting him go. Sora struggled to his feet, looking embarrassed, while Wakka gingerly rubbed several bruises.

Kairi had thought it was over, and was at Sora's house, just hanging out, waiting for Riku, when a knock on the door came.
When Sora's mother answered the door, Tidus's and Wakka's mothers were both there, with their sons, not to mention Riku's mom too. Kairi stared, laughing quietly, as Tidus's mom grabbed her son's head and rotated it, lifting it up and down, rolling up his sleeve to show all the bruises that had been left by the fight.
The other moms began doing the same. Sora was hauled out to show Wakka's mother what a real bruise looked like, while Tidus's mom started yelling at Riku's about a black eye.
Kairi grimaced then, staring upward at the ceiling, wondering when it would finally be over.
She hoped this never happened again.

Yeah this was just a little story I wrote up for the heck of it.
