A.N.: Human!Wheatley, post-Portal 2. Slight Chelley. Enjoy!
Chell was out and Wheatley was bored. He'd gotten an old movie disc when out shopping with Chell the day before and decided to watch it. He popped it into the proper machine and turned on the TV. He ran quickly on his long legs to the bedroom and grabbed an armful of blankets and pillows and set them around himself in the living room. His normally wide eyes grew wider as he watched the thrilling tale of a young mermaid. During one musical scene, Whealey got a brilliant idea.
"She don't say a word
And she won't say a word
Until you kiss the girl..." Whealey immediately thought of Chell. Is that what happened to Chell? In the movie, the mermaid traded her voice to a sea witch for legs. Was Chell really a mermaid? She was certainly pretty enough. And the only witch he knew was GLaDOS. And if he kissed her, would she get her voice back? He'd been dying to hear it since first meeting her and it was certainly worth a shot. But would it work? He paid attention to the movie again. The prince was about to kiss the mermaid. Their lips were puckered and they inched closer to each other. Wheatley was was unknowingly doing the same to the TV. They were so close and...
SPLASH!
"WHAT? NO! Oh, come on, mate! You were so close!" Wheatley yelled to the TV, grabbing each side and giving it a little shake. The two eels snickered evily. "Bastards." he muttered under his breath. He relaxed back in his blanket nest and continued thinking about Chell. He wanted to hear her voice. He REALLY wanted to hear her voice. He suddenly wanted it more than anything. Would it sound nice and pretty like Ariel's? Or scary like GLaDOS? No... Of course it would sound pretty! This is Chell we're talking about!
Wheatley discovered he'd fallen asleep when he woke to the smell of dinner cooking. Chell made the best food. He'd almost forgotten what he needed to do until he saw the movie replaying on the TV, but on silent. He leapt into the air and tripped over his legs and tangled blankets. Once he got free, he found Chell in the kitchen. She saw him and gave him a friendly smile. He waited until she was away from the stove before pulling her to him and kissing her like the people almost did in the movie. He had to bend down quite a bit, so it was a bit awkward.
Chell's eyes were open in surprise. She wasn't expecting this, even from Wheatley. He stopped and looked at her, cheeks a bit red, but goofy grin in place.
"Did it work? Go on, say something." Chell raised an eyebrow. Did he really think kissing her would get her to do miracles? After a few seconds of silence, his smile dropped to a disappointed frown. "It didn't work, did it?" Chell gave him a sad smile and pecked his nose. His blush spread and he smiled, but he still looked a little sad. But his entire face lit up when he heard it. It was quiet and scratchy from years of disuse, but it was there.
She said "Wheatley."
