My Window
Lady Adrienne Wolfe Gentry
My window is open and I see the moon.
Just past full,
still glowing like a cream colored coin.
Purple feathers hang
above the almost-circle,
fluttering by the open screen.
I feel it stirring something,
something inside me.
Deep inside.
I can't focus.
I can't concentrate.
I can't ignore it.
Something is there,
watching me.
Waiting for an invitation.
The moonlight turns it all into something new,
something magical,
something its never been before.
All I feel
are his arms.
Phantomly wrapped around me.
Is it a memory?
Or something more?
What is happening?
A whisper of wind,
softly sighing something.
Warm breath brushes my neck.
Lost in thoughts,
not sure if its real.
Not sure if its not.
A kiss brushed softly upon my lips,
like a ghost of things past
and a promise to come.
The moon is in my blood,
I can't resist its pull.
Neither can he.
In the darkness,
we are.
Only secret.
I hear a howl,
a longing sound.
I feel it in my soul.
As it all fades
and fire from touches
turns cold,
I realize something.
He is always here,
like promised.
I just need to know where to look.
And always remember,
Keep the window open the nights of the moon.
