"It's white, pure, and it makes the whole city look peaceful for just a little while. So how can you not like snow?" Vanessa Abrams chuckled with an amused smile dancing on her full lips.

"I didn't say I don't like snow, it's just that, I never played in it much as a kid." He answered, his eyes following her every move.

"You're seventeen Nate. Plenty of time left to be a kid." Her blue eyes were shining a little too bright for his liking.

"What are you planning Miss Abrams?"

"Nothing you need to worry yourself with. Aren't you supposed to be doing history?" she countered, a smirk never leaving her pristine face.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Nate was freezing his Armani clad butt off, waiting for Vanessa out side the gallery.

He stiffened when he was pelted with a ball of snow. He turned around to see a flushed, and very beautiful if you asked him, Vanessa Abrams staring back at him.

"Are you just gonna stand there?" she said, trying to egg him on.

"I can't hit a girl." Nate shrugged and said in earnest.

"Seriously?" she laughed. "Let go of any preconceptions for today okay? Today we just play."

"Just remember you asked for this." His words may have seemed threatening if his lips weren't spread into a grin so wide it would make a Cheshire cat envious.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Forty minutes later Vanessa found her self over heated, out of breathe, and trapped under Nathaniel Archibald.

She couldn't speak or breathe. Never mind that the second was crucial to her survival. At that moment nothing seemed more crucial to her survival then that he kiss her, right that very moment.

He couldn't do that though, because they were supposed to be friends. It was actually her idea.

She was really regretting that suggestion.

When she gets home, having never gotten her kiss, she decides its all the snow's fault. If it weren't so beautiful and magical, she would have never have been overcome with an acute need for a kiss from Nate.

Things were over between them. She was over him.

The next day she slips on black ice only to land in the snow. Nate's there looking concerned and she thinks it's completely adorable.

Her nose brushes his as he helps her up.

This snow was going to the death of her.
