She slowly lifted her sleepy head from his desk. She studied the way he ran his fingers through his hair, noticed the gleam in his eyes, and prayed when she saw his classic smirk creep across his face. As soon as he exhaled a heavy breath she knew she was back in.
Never let it be said Maxie Jones didn't go after what she wanted. When calling him with her latest problem; real or made up hadn't done anything. When what she thought would be a simple game of seduction didn't work. When being completely and totally honest, laying her heart out on the line failed to work, she knew her the only course of action she had left was persistence. That's why she was there in his office late that evening, like she was every spare moment, waiting for him, waiting on him. Doing nothing but waiting, he had to know she was there for him, just there, the way he had always been for her. He constantly in her thoughts, branded into her heart and soul, and she'd wait however long it took for him to realize that when she said she loved him, she meant it with every fiber of her being.
He let her name slowly escape his lips as she rose and walked towards him.
"Spinelli," she countered as she set on the edge of desk.
"Why are you here," he asked dryly, as if he didn't know.
"I'm waiting on you," she whispered softly.
"Waiting?"
"Waiting," she shrugged. "How much longer are you going to have me wait?"
"Maximista," he sighed.
That was it. She slowly reached for his face, he didn't shy away. She lightly pressed her lips to his. He pulled her close to him in a tight embrace. He found her lips and kissed her with an urgency she had never felt from him. She searched his eyes and saw the same desperation she knew was mirrored in hers. She slowly nodded biting down on her bottom lip. Her breath caught when he suddenly swept the desk clean and began to lay her back.
They had been apart far too long, and he knew being this close she could feel his growing need for her. He crashed his lips into hers again, with the same urgency and desperation as before. He inched her skirt up and sprawled his fingers across her thighs. He trailed kisses down her body. Her heartbeat quickened as his mouth made its way further south. He hooked his thumbs in the waistband of panties and swiftly removed the only obstacle that remained.
She threaded trembling hands in his hair. Her eyelids slowly drifted closed. Her head was spinning with possibilities. His name huskily escaped her lips, as his leisurely crept their way back north towards her abdomen, his fingers hurriedly taking charge.
She shot up, her breathing unsteady. "Not again," she muttered as she fumbled through her nightstand drawer.
