Disclaimer: I own neither Sherlock Holmes nor his faithful companion, John Watson. I do, however, greatly enjoy toying with them.

Currents
"Holmes!" A member of humanity limped up to Sherlock Holmes with unexpected energy. "The captain says we should arrive in London in about fifteen minutes."
The man allowed a quick, distant smile to pass across his face before acknowledging the doctor. "Ah, are we so close to that dull city?"
Watson smiled encouragingly.
"Cheer up, my good man. If you don't, I'll have to work extra hours toward another trip to the continent."
"That won't be necessary, my dear Watson; there is always the cocaine."
The doctor left him there.
The skeleton shifted his gaze from Watson's back to the sea; the waves seemed so reckless... unpredictable. Yet, he thought, dismissively throwing a cigarette off the edge of the railing, the currents never do change.
