A Long Time Coming

By Sarah Elisabeth

"I love you."

Remus didn't move. He was sure he'd heard correctly but couldn't believe it. Sirius, in love with him? Of all the things that could have been possible with Sirius, this was never anything he'd suspected to be on the list. Sirius Black was always chasing after girls and girls were always chasing after them—so how was this possible? He had never before indicated any sort of attraction to…men…before.

Sirius moved away from the door, eyes still looking straight into Remus'. Remus was sure that for the first time in his life, Sirius looked uncomfortable. He wasn't his usual cocky self. "I…I know you don't feel the same way about me, but…but I had to let you know. I've felt this way about you since third year and since this is the end of the line for us at Hogwarts…I don't know, I thought I should say it now."

Remus opened his mouth to say something, closed it, opened it again, then closed it. He didn't know what to say. He didn't know what to do! Sirius Black—Sirius Black—was in love with him! His best friend. The one person who was always there for him. There for him no matter what. The one person who always knew exactly what it took to make him feel better after transformations, after bad days, after anything, this person loved him. This person wanted to be with him for no reason other than he liked him. He didn't have anything to offer and was classifiably a danger to society, yet Sirius Black wanted to be with him.

"I…" Remus trailed off. Sirius looked completely beaten. As though it had taken every ounce of his strength to confess his feelings. He gave Remus a small smile.

"Don't worry about it. I'm sorry I said anything."

Remus' eyes went wide as Sirius began to leave the room. He couldn't let him leave—he hadn't even told him how he felt yet! "No! No no no!" He rushed out and grabbed Sirius by the arm, pushed him against the wall, and before he knew what he was doing, brought his lips down hard onto Sirius'. Sirius stiffened, taken completely by surprise.

"Sirius," Remus whispered onto Sirius' lips. "Sirius…I love you, too. I-I always have."

Hands groped as bodies pressed together, locked in a passionate kiss, struggling to come together as though their very lives depended on it. It was pure bliss and neither one of them had felt passion of this kind before. They were entranced by each other, completely devoted to the other and wanted nothing more than to stay in that moment for the rest of their lives.

So, what do you think? Please comment—I'd love to hear everyone's opinion. It's nothing great, I know, but I wrote it in ten minutes, what else can one expect?
