Disclaimer: I own neither Sherlock Holmes nor his faithful companion, John Watson. I do, however, greatly enjoy toying with them.

Necessary Exercises

"Holmes, is this really necessary?"

"Watson, it is imperative for one to practice the techniques of one's art in order to ensure its perfection. My livelihood depends on such exercises."

"But, why must I-"

"Did you not agree to assist me, doctor? I set up this employment opportunity months ago."

"Why, yes, Holmes. But, I did not by any means think I would be wearing a frock."

"It is much too late for complaining now, Watson. Besides, you make a rather fine housemaid."

"That is not amusing, Holmes."

"Alright, good chap. We will agree to disagree. Now, man! Quick! Our employer is returning."

"Holmes..."

"Now!"

"Good day to you, Mr. Winchum! Did you have a pleasant stay?"

"Why, yes, Ms. Morstan. The countryside is quite pleasing this time of year. Did the plummer come by already?"

"Yes, sir."

"And, I trust that despite your new position, you were able to direct him to the kitchen?"

"Yes, sir. I believe he is in there right now."

"Aye! 'Ello, sir. All is as it should be! But, sir, I best be on me way now."

"Of course, of course. Here is your payment. It is sufficient, is it not? Right. Now, I will retire to my study. Some tea at three, please, Ms. Morstan?"

"You can rely on it, sir!"

"Good. Well, good day to you, sir."

"Watson! You were positively brilliant. Now, come, we must head to the railway to catch the train to Sussex. Lestrade sent me a telegram earlier this morning regarding the murder of a certain Mr. Lowell. The case sounds quite in my line of study."

"Surely, I can change before then, Holmes?"

"I apologize, my dear friend. We have not a moment to lose!"

"You cannot be serious!"

"I am always serious. However, in this case, I suppose we can make a small stop by Baker Street. We would not want to confuse our dear inspector more than is absolutely necessary."
