Ego Baby

"Logan!" Rory yelled. She was in their bedroom, getting ready for work.

"Hey Ace, what's up?" Logan came into the room, still in the process of tying his tie.

"I hate you. You ruined me." Rory muttered, still trying to zip up her skirt, to no avail. She was happy they were having a baby, but she hated not being able to fit into her cloths.

Logan looked at her. Wanting to fix this. He didn't know if he could take five-and-a-half more months of mood swings. "Come on, lets go."

"Go where?"

"I'm taking you shopping, Ace. We are going to go out, and we're going to buy lots of new cloths."

"Logan, I have to go to work!"

"Play hooky, Ace. Live life on the edge. We're having a baby soon, we'll have to be an old married couple, now lets enjoy the spontaneity. You're unhappy, you need clothing, come on. Neither of us are going to work today, instead, we're going to have fun."

"You bring out the worst in me."

"Or the best. It's really a matter of opinion."

"If our kids have an affinity to skipping like you did, you are going to bribe the headmasters, and I don't want to know anything about it."

"And I'll do it with a smile."

"Luis, this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

"And Ace, lucky for us, we're together, and married, to each other."

"Who would've thunk it. Logan 'one-hundred-girls-on-speed-dial' Elias Huntzberger willingly settled down, and taking his pregnant wife out to go shopping for maternity clothing."

"Hey, a Gilmore in the midst of mood swings is quite the challenge. Exactly what the Life and Death Brigade prepared me for."

"Prepared you for?"

"In Omnia Paratus, Ace. I'm ready for midnight cravings and tears over the last pop-tart."

"I didn't realize the Life and Death Brigade was preparing you for anything. I thought it was all about goofing off with your spoiled buddies before the real world came along and you had to work for you big bad daddies."

"But Ace, all that careful planning, for the events. You must realize I learned a lot of life skills."

"Like how to carry on a conversation without the letter 'e'."

"Precisely. Now stop changing the subject and lets go."

"I have to call my boss at least."

"No you don't, I am your boss, indirectly." After Ror came to Logan in California, he realized that they couldn't live together in Palo Alto. They needed their family, especially Rory. Logan had talked with his father, and after showing him that he did indeed have a backbone, Mitchum had accepted Logan's conditions in working for Huntzberger Media.

"Fine. Let's go."

"Let's go." Logan grabbed her hand and rushed her out of their penthouse apartment. It was roomy and they had already decided that they would stay there, at least for a while, until they were ready to have more kids and they could buy a house in White Plains. Through the lobby, and into their chauffeured car.

"Hey Frank!"

"Hello Miss. Rory. Hello Mr. Huntzberger. Where to?"

"There's a store Honor told me you would love, Ace. Veronique Maternity."

"Logan, I'm fine at the Gap."

"Hey, Ace. I'm taking you shopping, so I get to spoil you rotten. It's the least I could do."

"Come on Logan, you don't have to take me to some expensive boutique."

"Babe, I want to buy you nice clothing. At least I'm not trying to get things specially made for you."

"There's one thing to be thankful for, at least we're going to a store, old school"

"And after this, we're going to get some books. To make up for not going to work."

"How does that make up for not going to work?"

"You'll be reading. Reading is like writing."

"Strange Man."

"And you love me."

"You have quite the ego, Logan. Maybe I'm just using you for the books you buy me."

"Which reminds me, we're out of Eggo Waffles. We should pick up some more."
