A/N: This is just a very short one-shot that I came up with while listening to a song called "Taking Off The Pain", hope everyone enjoys it! I own no one in the story except for Madison and Alex. Please read and review!!

Madison Batista sat in the bar with a beer in her right hand as she stared intently at the wedding rings she held in her left hand. Her marriage had been over for a long time, everyone knew it including Madison herself but she tried her best to fool herself into believing things were going to change. Things never changed though and now she sat alone in a crumby bar after having caught her husband cheating on her for the second time.

She shook her head and took a drink of her beer, looking up just in time to see a handsome guy at the end of the bar looking in her direction. Madison smiled at him, winking as she lifted her glass in a salute to him before taking another drink. It made her feel good to have a stranger notice her, men were afraid to even cast a glance in her direction when Dave was with her and it always for some reason made her feel less attractive.

Thinking about her husband, she couldn't help but wonder how he was all alone at home without her. There were times during their marriage that she felt more like a maid than a wife, doing all the housework on their days off from the road while he sat around watching football games on television with his friends. She had to take to dressing in lingerie every time they were home just to keep his attention and eventually that even stopped working so Madison finally made the decision to let go and move on with her life.

"Hi." A male voice spoke up, dragging her out of her thoughts and she turned to see the handsome stranger from the other side of the bar.

"Hello."

"I'm Alex Richardson and I apologize for being so forward but I couldn't help but notice you and notice how out of place you seem here." He stated and Madison laughed a little.

"I'm Madison…Sinclair and I guess you caught me, this isn't normally the kind of place I hang out."

"Well…what do you say we get out of here? I know this wonderful little Italian place just in the next block."

Madison sat there looking up at him for a minute, debating her next move before she smiled and nodded. "I think I'd like that, lead the way." She stood up and without a second thought, dropped her wedding rings into her mug of beer before following the handsome stranger out of the bar.
