Nineteen year-old Ayano Sugiura woke up and had a smile on her face. She used to have a more stern and unhappy look on her face during the middle school years, but things had changed a lot for her in recent years. She had recently started dating her former rival, Toshino Kyoko, and even though she wouldn't admit it, Kyoko had brightened up her life. Ayano spent an hour getting ready for the day ahead of year. She and Kyoko had made plans to spend the day together and she sure was excited about that. Well, Ayano would claim that she's only kind of excited, but her fibs were hardly believable.
Ayano got on a fancy white dress and walked out of her house and drove to Kyoko's house. She knocked on the door, but there was no answer from Kyoko. Kyoko had given Ayano a key to her house, so Ayano used it to get inside. She walked inside of the house and asked, "Kyoko, are you here? It's Ayano. Um, you didn't answer the door, so I was a little worried about you. To be honest, I still don't know if you're here." She nervously laughed and said, "I'm going to seem like a weirdo if you're not here. I hope I'm not talking to myself right now."
Ayano heard some noises coming from Kyoko's bedroom so she opened the door and saw that Kyoko was sleeping in her bed. Ayano looked at her watch. It was 10:00 a.m. Kyoko had assured Ayano that she would be and ready to for a day of fun by ten in the morning, but that sure isn't what happened. Ayano looked at her girlfriend and wondered what she should do. Should she wake Kyoko up? She figured that it might be rude to wake her up. Should she let Kyoko sleep in? She hoped that Kyoko would wake up soon, so she went to the living room and read a book.
An hour later Ayano looked at her watch again. It was 11:00 a.m. She didn't mind too much, because she was enjoying her book, but she was concerned about how long it would take Kyoko to wake up. She wondered if it was time to wake Kyoko up. She started thinking that an hour was enough time to wait. She started walking to the door and was planning on waking Kyoko up, but she didn't. She still felt guilty at the thought of waking Kyoko up, so she went back to the living room and continued reading her book.
It was noon. Ayano's stomach was grumbling, because she felt ready for lunch. She decided to wake Kyoko up. She opened the door and gently said, "Kyoko, it's time for you to wake up." Kyoko was still sleeping. Ayano spoke in a normal tone while saying, "Please wake up Kyoko."
Kyoko's eyes started opening. She looked around and saw Ayano. She jokingly asked, "Were you watching me sleep?"
Ayano blushed with embarrassment and said, "I wasn't doing that. I've been waiting two hours for you to wake up."
Kyoko asked, "Two hours? Then you got plenty of time to watch me sleep. Must of gotten repetitive."
Ayano replied, "I was waiting for you in the living room."
Kyoko started getting the blankets out of her way while asking, "Why didn't you just wake me up?"
Ayano nervously said, "I didn't have the heart to do that."
Kyoko smiled at Ayano and replied, "You're such a cutie." Ayano blushed. Kyoko said, "However, you should of woken me up."
Ayano asked, "How come you were sleeping in so late? You told me that you'd be ready by ten."
Kyoko nervously laughed and replied, "I'm sorry." She played with her own hair while saying, "I didn't pay attention to the time. Did I miss breakfast time?"
Ayano responded, "You sure did. I had breakfast four hours ago. It's lunch time."
Kyoko smiled and said, "I often enjoy skipping breakfast anyways. Lets go get some lunch."
Ayano asked, "Don't you have to get ready first?"
Kyoko sighed and said, "I suppose so. However, I don't want to make you wait even more."
Ayano smiled at Kyoko and replied, "It's okay. Take your time."
Kyoko smiled back and responded, "Okay then. Thank you sweetheart." She kissed Ayano. Ayano blushed. She went back to the living room and started reading the next part of her book.
Ayano laid down on the couch and kept on reading while Kyoko took a shower. Ayano yawned a few times in a short period of time. She was excited for her date with Kyoko, but waiting for over two hours was exhausting. She figured that it would take a half hour for Kyoko to get ready, so she figured that she could take a quick nap. She looked around and saw a blanket. She put it on her and put a soft feeling blanket under her head. She felt relaxed and comfortable. She closed her eyes and started dreaming.
A half hour later Ayano's eyes started opening. She didn't hear the sounds of water anymore, so she figured Kyoko had finished her shower and was almost ready. Ayano figured she better get the nap stuff away and start looking excited about the day. She put the blanket and the pillow away. She started looking at herself in the mirror and was upset by how her hair looked. Her hair got a lot messy, because of the nap. Ayano facepalmed, because she had spent so much time cleaning her hair. She decided to use some water to make her hair look better. She ran to the kitchen and got a bucket of water. She tried to pour it on her head, but she accidentally spilt the water on her dress. Ayano felt look a fool. She had gotten over two hours before Ayano did, but she looked like a bigger mess. Her dress was soaked and her hair still looked messy. She had lots of regretful feelings going on in her head.
Ayano went into the bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror. Ayano took off the white dress and put on a blue bathrobe that was in the room. She used a towel to cover up her messy hair. She sat down on the bathroom floor and asked to herself, "What should I do now? There's no way that I can explain this to Kyoko without sounding foolish.
Five minutes later Kyoko finished getting ready. She was wearing a green dress and her hair was nicely combed. She went to the living room and was expecting Ayano to be there, but she wasn't. She walked to the bathroom door and gently knocked on it.
Ayano wasn't sure of what to do. She thought about it and nervously said, "Um, hi Kyoko. I'm not ready to come out yet."
Kyoko knew her girlfriend well and could tell that something was up, because of the nervous sounding tone of Ayano's voice. Kyoko asked, "What's going on?"
Ayano said, "I don't want to talk about it."
Kyoko confidently replied, "Well, you're in my house, so you can't escape from telling me what's on your mind."
Ayano looked over at her dress. It was still soaked. She briefly lifted her head towel and saw that her hair still looked messy. She figured that Kyoko was right about her not being able to escape the truth, so she opened the door. She moved around nervously while walking up to Kyoko.
Kyoko was surprised to see Ayano in her blue bathrobe and with a head towel. She asked, "Did you take a shower?"
Ayano said, "No, but water caused me trouble."
Kyoko asked, "Where's that lovely white dress you came here with?"
Ayano sighed and said, "It's all wet."
Kyoko asked, "Did raindrops fall on you?"
Ayano shook her head and said, "No, I guess I should tell you what actually happened." She explained to Kyoko about what happened. Ayano had a few small tears coming down her face.
Kyoko asked, "What's wrong?"
Ayano said, "I can't even get ready for a date correctly. I ruined my hair and my dress. I'm such a fool."
Kyoko replied, "No you're not. You waited over two hours for me to get ready. You're very patient and kind."
Ayano said, "But I messed up my appearance. I'm a lousy girlfriend."
Kyoko shook her head and replied, "I sure disagree with that. This wouldn't of happened if I had gotten ready by ten instead of noon. You were the one who properly prepared for this date, not me."
Ayano looked up at Kyoko and asked, "Do you forgive me?"
Kyoko gently said, "I was never mad at you, so there's no need for forgiveness. I love you so much."
Ayano smiled and replied, "I love you too." Ayano and Kyoko hugged each other. Ayano said, "I'm afraid we're going to have to delay the date, because I'm clearly not presentable."
Kyoko shook her head again and replied, "No need for further delays. You can borrow one of my dresses."
Ayano responded, "Okay then." She and Kyoko walked into Kyoko's bedroom. Kyoko handed her a purple dress. Ayano put it on. Kyoko combed Ayano's hair. Ayano looked at herself in the mirror and asked, "How do I look?"
Kyoko said, "Like the best girlfriend in the world."
Ayano blushed and said, "That means I look like you, because you're the best girlfriend in the world."
Kyoko blushed back and replied, "I'm lucky to be dating such a sweetheart." Ayano and Kyoko held hands while walking out of the house and heading off to their date. Ayano was thankful for the eccentric, but heartwarming adventures that Kyoko always gave her. Ayano and Kyoko knew they'd treasure each other in their hearts forever.
