When you love someone for almost your whole life, noticing the little things becomes natural. Little things like a twitch in his right eye when he is about to cry and the same excuse about being allergic to plants when its been his (and by default, yours) passion for years. You spend so long looking from the sidelines wishing, hoping, wanting to be by their side to show that you see these little things. Wanting to be noticed. Days and days, weeks and weeks, months and months, years upon painful years yearning to just simply be seen as more than a friend, more than just weird, painfully shy Hinata.
Eventually there come a point when the weight of the secret untold becomes too heavy to keep any longer and instead of being a flower blossoming, blooming, it becomes a vine that snakes its way around your throat. Squeezing the life out of you, it grows stronger every day you don't let the words, sitting on the very tip of your tongue, out.
And in love there is no better liar than yourself. You tell yourself that you will let the caged truth free later that day when you see him, but then his big beautiful cerulean eyes cut through your resolve and you are left amazed and stupefied by their radiance.
"Why would eyes like those ever light up any different around me than to anyone else?"
A single question that a small part of you hisses every time you catch yourself hoping. A simply worded question with twenty two syllables, sixteen words and ten years spent repeating it in your head. 'Nice' is all you are dubbed with because guess what, hun? Fun and flirtatious, that's Ino. Smart and talented, that's Sakura. Fierce and independant, nope that's Tenten. And don't get me wrong, I love them to pieces and I'm so so so proud of their achievements but when all the other titles are taken... what are you left with? Kind and painfully shy... and that is Hinata.
However, he has many titles. He is our saviour, the favourite candidate to become our Hokage, the kyuubi's jailer... our protector. He used to be the village pariah, hated, isolated but still with such a warm disposition and now he shines as brightly and as fiercely as the sun. No longer a florescent light bulb that shone brightly but briefly, showing its darkness only when he thought no one was looking. His bright sun-kissed hair, his mischievous grin, his hilariously horrific lack of manners all contrast so vastly, I've loved him in his shadow.
The sun and it's, hopelessly in love, moon.
The moon that had no light of it's own. The moon that merely reflected the sun. The moon that had so many craters it looked like it was on the verge of
