Disclaimer: I don't own Batman/DC and I don't make money with my FF.
Spoiler: I actually can't think of any...
She stands in front of the GCPD. The building is enormous and overwhelming. With its huge sign that claims: - Gotham City Police Department - in big, black letters and its brightly polished windows it seems more like a hotel and not like a Police Department. She stands about one foot apart from the department and watches people going inside and outside. She doesn't need to fear that anyone could recognize her. She doesn't wear her costume; her hair is done in a ponytail. She doesn't wear make-up, and all in all she seems ordinary and there is no or barely a probability that she's seen as the former psychologist Dr. Harleen Quinzel. Harleen Quinzel is forgotten. Every one has Harley Quinn in mind.
What should she tell him?
Should she tell him about the puzzle? The puzzle she tried to hold together but it fell to pieces? Should she tell him about the pieces she searched for and tried to recompose to a new ordered whole? And anyway, should she use metaphors? Harley feels cold and dirty. Her thoughts seem to be in a mess, and she has problems to concentrate. Should she tell him what happened?
Gotham City Police Department.
Harley reads it again and again. She recognizes that she's trembling not with cold but with fear, however, she tries to suppress it. Despite her attempt to stop trembling, it grows stronger. She wants to cry. Inwardly she's crying since she stands in front of the department but outwardly there is no chance to cry. People would notice her. People would notice a strange young woman opposing to the police department. People would notice her face, people would notice the blonde hair, and people would start to think. Harleen Quinzel would not longer be forgotten. Harley takes a deep breath. She looks up into the sky and watches the white feathery clouds. What she sees is a mental delusion, kind of a trick of her senses she knows for sure. But she sees the clouds taking shape of a face. A smiling face. Harley looks at the department again. Then, she turns around and walks away. She heads homewards. No, she wouldn't tell Commissioner Gordon what happened. She wouldn't tell him about her unhappiness. She wouldn't tell Commissioner Gordon that her relationship was nearly broken and she wouldn't tell him that she searched for help. Harley would go back to her Puddin', she would suffer all his bad moods and his ruthless tortures.
"Where the hell have you been?"
Harley looks down. What did she expect? Did she expect "Harley, I missed you." ?
"I was in town."
She doesn't look in his face because she fears that he could slap her face. She feels that he comes nearer.
"You were in town? I guess you bought a nice little gift for me."
"Actually, I…I did not."
He locks her into his arms and holds her tight. Wouldn't he slap her? Wouldn't he hurt her? She feels his hand softly stroking her head and he slowly starts to dance with her. It's a soft move and Harley starts to relax. Her worries she had at the beginning change slowly but surely into trust. He wouldn't slap her now whose she is sure.
"That's not a problem, Harl. Everyone has a bad day sometimes."
Would Harley leaver her Joker? I don't think so, I imagine that she didn't want to betray him...I believe she never was able to do this. She rather suffers his sadistic preferences.
So, what made her wanting to tell Commissioner everything she knew? What made her acting in this way? I think it was somewhat like a kneejerk reaction, nothing to be taken serious anyway. Harley's destined to stay with this madman. She simply cannot change anything.
Well, I hope you liked this. Leave me some review and tell me what you think about.
