(A/N: Here is the prologue. It's terribly short and the beginning is a tad bit of a cliché of Twilight. I hope everyone likes it regardless. I'll have the first chapter up shortly.)

Prologue

Large, gushing raindrops pattered, protestant on the windshield as they were swept away by the long, squeaky, windshield wipers of my prehistoric red Chevy. The rain was an omen to me. Like, a black cat or something. A constant reminder that I was not in Phoenix anymore. The rain was a reminder of everything I'd left behind. I constantly reminded myself that it was for the greater good.

Well, at least for my mother's good.

The streets were dark and unfamiliar. I'd been here for three days, and it was my first day of attending Forks High. Something I was not entirely excited or pleased about.

For the good of Renee. I told myself once again.

I pulled into a parking lot, which seemed too large for the size of the school, and the number of students that attended. My truck was also the third car in the lot. Period. What was different about Forks High, than the high school I attended in Phoenix, was the fact that teachers and students parked in the same lot. So, being the third person in the parking lot meant that I was very early.

I decided to sit in the heat and comfort of my warm truck for a few minutes rather than braving the downpour that seemed to endlessly flow from the cloudy sky. I was suddenly depressed by the thought that I may have seen the sun for the last time, three days ago. When I left my home in Arizona.

After a few good thoughtful moments passed, I decided it was time to acquaint myself with the unfamiliar school. As I hopped out of my rusted red truck –that was welcoming present from my father - I noticed that aside from my vehicle there were now six others.

Deciding to embrace the cold, wet weather rather than fear it I strode into the school and began the day that was sure to be hellish.

EPOV

Today was the day that seemingly every student in the town of Forks was riled up about. Today was the day we were to welcome a new student into our small student body. She was already the talk of the town and she'd only been here for three days. Her name was Isabella Swan. The police chief's daughter.

I didn't understand what the big deal was about but I was intently listening to people buzzing on and on about her as I –silently – made my way from the parking lot into the school.

"I hear she got kicked out of her mother's house because she's a trouble maker and that she got expelled from her old school." A familiar girl – Lauren I believe her name was – said snottily to her friends as they were circled around her red Neon.

I simply shook my head. They probably hadn't even met the girl and they were already making nasty assumptions. It was to be expected though. I'd met about one or two nice people the whole time I'd lived in Forks. Since I was twelve, when my family moved from Alaska. The students here always seemed to give the new kids the hardest time. I suffered though the "new kid" phase too. It certainly wasn't the highlight of my life.

I shrugged it off though. I was resilient now.

As I made my way into school, I did what I usually did. I listened and observed. So much talk was going on about Isabella. I couldn't believe she could cause such a disturbance to the "peace." It seemed that every person I passed was talking about her. Assumptions upon assumptions were made and I could only pity the girl.
