He is sitting on the branch of his favorite Sakura tree. From there, he sees a girl, walking together with her friends, laughing. He watches them as they went by, without realizing him, since he hid himself in the shadows.
What I thought wasn't mine
He watches them, no, more like he watches the specific girl, the one with two ponytails.
In the light
Sakura Mikan …
Was one of a kind,
The one he cared for, the one that he loved.
A precious pearl
He swore to never let her come to the darkness that surrounding him as a plague.
When I wanted to cry
She was his light. But to protect her, he has to push her away.
I couldn't cause I
It's his choice. He vowed to never regret for his own decision.
Wasn't allowed
He wouldn't regret his decision, even though it slowly breaks him apart.
Gomenasai for everything
Gomenasai, I know I let you down
Even though he knows what she wanted…
Gomenasai till the end
…he can't grant it.
I never needed a friend
Because he knows that if he holds her in his arms …
Like I do now
He can never let go of her anymore.
"Mikan, what's wrong?"
What I thought wasn't all
So innocent
She looks back to the Sakura tree she passed. Sakura petals are floating around, blew by the wind. It's a beautiful scene; but she looked back because she feels as if there's Natsume's presence from the tree.
Was a delicate doll
Of porcelain
But she didn't see the one she hoped to see. She sees no one.
When I wanted to call you
"Nothing," she said to her friends.
And ask you for help
I stopped myself
"Nothing at all…"

I never needed a friend
Like I do now
The wind then blows again before she leaves, but she stopped for a sec, but she never heard the soft word that the wind carried.
"Mikan? You come?"
"I'm coming !!"
"Natsume!! Wait up!!"
What I thought was a dream
A mirage
"My birthday is just two days away, and I was planning to celebrate it with my friends, ..so… can you come too?"
Was as real as it seemed
A privilege
However, instead of answering, he turns his back and walks away from her. She can only watch his retreating back with sadness.

Her body lay limply on his arms. Her breathing is ragged and her dress is stained by her own blood.

He just looks at her without saying anything. But his face is full of remorse and sadness.

"You came… for me…." she smiled weakly. She stretches her hand weakly to Natsume's face, before she loses consciousness.

"I'm sorry…."

"I'm very sorry…"
Like I do now
"I'm too late…" he holds her body tightly in his arms, with a building that burns in reddish orange flame behind them.
