It was an average weekend, Jesse and Hanzo had spent their time at the local furry convention, it was something they enjoyed doing together for the entire length of their relationship. Heck, they even met at a furry convention! The only problem was that Jesse had always felt he was more passionate about the furry fandom than Hanzo was. Jesse had elaborate fursuits that he spent hours designing, and a fursona he had put hours of hard work into creating, drawing photos of, and writing stories about. Hanzo liked the furry community and would always read Jesse's stories and tell him how good his drawings were but Jesse always felt his boyfriend was never as involved as him.
He wondered how he could get his love to enjoy his passion as much as he does, when it hit him. Hanzo was a subtle man, McCree knew this. As many nice things as he said, Jesse still noticed when Hanzo would make a face at someone in a full fursuit, or when Hanzo's grip on his hand would tighten as they walked the halls of the convention and he would brush against someone in costume. It also explained why Hanzo would never let Jesse wear the costumes he designed when he attened with him. Jesse thought if he could make a costume for Hanzo that was more subtle than the popular fursuits, yet still had furry elements while looking stylish, he could get Hanzo more immersed in the community. He brainstormed, coming up with many ideas until he finally had it. A wolf.
McCree always knew his one of his boyfriend's favorite animals was a wolf, and this costume would be perfect for him. He wanted to keep it a suprise for him, and began working in private. He reached out to a lifelong friend, Gabriel Reyes, to ask him for help sewing it together, Jesse knew Gabe had a knack for sewing and desiging and he wanted this costume to be its best for Hanzo. Gabe was hesitant to help, not very into furries himself, but he wanted to help Jesse. He pulled out his needle and thread and got to work, glad he could help his good friend Jesse with his relationship troubles.
It was hard for him to keep this huge suprise a secret from Hanzo.
Sometimes he would get off the phone with Gabe and squeal from excitement. Sometimes he would hold Hanzo's hand just a little too tight. "What has gotten into you lately?" Hanzo would ask him. "Oh, nothing darlin'! Just in a good mood today." Jesse would respond. But Hanzo was suspicious, McCree was in a very good mood everyday. Everyday he would get off the phone with someone and would be a little too happy. Hanzo began to have worrying thoughts. "Who is he talking to? Has he found someone else? Someone who can give him the furry content I can't?". He didn't want this to be the case, and he trusted McCree, but the thought was still there in the back of his head.
Until one night Jesse had come home from "a friends house" with a large suitbag and an equally large smile on his face. "Hey, Hanzo! Come into the living room, honey!" Hanzo gave a small smile at the pet name and made his way to the living room, where Jesse sat him on the couch. McCree explained how he wanted to make something nice for Hanzo, and seeked the help of Gabe. When he finally unveiled the masterpiece, Hanzo was speechless. It was a wolf hood and a matching shaw around his shoulders, paired with some red armor and a green shirt, as well as some odd puffy pants. McCree made sure all the fur was synthetic as well. Hanzo was so happy to be able to immerse himself in the furry community in his own special way and delve deeper into his passion with the love of his life. Niether of them would ever forget this.
