Hermione was besides herself with anger, she had just apparated into the Potter's garden to be greeted with a line of house elves. She had apparated away straight away and had somehow found herself in hogsmeade, she walked into The Hogs Head, sitting in the pub, at the table, she couldn't help but look back at the year she had discovered the horrible treatments that house elves endured. She had tried her best to get them equal rights and pay but even the house elves had been unwilling to accept any help. Dobby had made her see that house elves had endured this treatment for so long that they had been unable to understand how a witch or a wizard could treat them with anything other than anger, contempt and suffering. Hermione sat and thought for a while and decided that she was going to return to the potters home and give Harry and Ginny a piece of her mind.

Hermione apparated back into the potters garden and saw there was no longer any house elves in the garden. Walking into the house, she noticed that it was very quiet, she slowly made her way towards the living room where she saw Harry and Ginny curled up on the sofa watching the tv. Entering the living room, Harry noticed Hermione first

"Hermione, is everything ok?"

"No actually, I am so angry at you Harry, why where there house elves here earlier, please tell me you are not going to condone this awful practice by owning one?"

"I am Hermione, I am going to have a house elf in my house and she will help with the housework and anything else she wants to, I wont be owning her, I will be hiring her, I am also going to build a small extension onto my house, where she will live and have her own privacy. I have offered her 5 Galleons a week and she will have Sunday off or a day of her choosing, if she doesn't choose one I shall make sure she takes a day off, now it has taken me a bit of convincing on my part to get her to take the money and she is allowed to wear any clothes she wants, even though the minute I mentioned clothes it took me nearly an hour to convince her she wouldn't be let go and that I would like her to wear some clothes and not the pillow case she is currently wearing, I have also hired one for Mrs Weasley as she is aging and wont accept help. They will both be living with Mrs Weasley until the extension is built, Pippy will then come here whilst Potty will live with Mrs Weasley and I will be paying both their wages."

Hermione couldn't speak she looked at Harry and began to cry, the thought hadn't even occurred to her that Harry would be paying the elf and he was giving them time off and proper clothes, she pulled Harry into a hug and continued to cry whilst she apologised profusely.

Susan Sebest - Thank you for reviewing and i agree, i got the inspiration for this whilst in class discussing slavery and how if they had been paid and had better working conditions and were not treated so poorly, and given the rights they deserved as a society we could have evolved much quicker, and then as i was writing it up it hit me, thank you very much.
