Mother Protecting

The woman ran. her blonde hair, though used to be tied back, flew behind her. her big, square, blue eyes wide with fear. She ran away from battle. Away from blood. Away from death. She ran although she had serious wounds of her own. She didn't run for herself though. She ran for her son. Clutched in her arms, the newborn baby cried and wailed. The mother would have to ignore it though, no matter how much she wanted to comfort him. This would probably be the last time she would see him. She was heading to the forest, where her baby boy would be safe.

Now at the forest, the mother walked towards a clearing, stumbling with every step. With some difficulty, she made it to the clearing, and walked in.

An enormous tree stood in the middle of the meadow. "Please," said the mother. "I need help. It's my son."

The tree spoke back to the mother. "Come. Bring forth your child." So the mother did. When the tree saw him, he said, "Yes. Something tells me that this is the child of destiny. The child that will save the land of Hyrule."

"What are you talking about? All I ask is, I wish for you to protect him. I will surely die any minute now. My wounds are so great."

"Don't worry. Your son is safe with me." A green light surrounded the boy, and the boy was lifted out of the mother's arms.

"Your son will live with the other children, the Kokiri, and he shall wear the green of forests." Green clothes suddenly appeared on the baby boy. "When the time is right," the tree continued, "he will have to leave this forest. My dear, what is the name of your son?"

"Link." The woman replied. "It's Link." The tree smiled sadly. "Ahgh! Ugh!" The woman cried in pain. She curled up on the ground. Her wounds took over, and she never moved again.
