Life is a struggle of dark and light - lies and truth, wrongs and rights - but never simply 'flee' and 'fight'. Innocence is mistic; bright. But once tainted, no longer present, its height. I do not want to die; to fight.

All I simply want, is the faint, peaceful light.

There are no truly innocent people. There are no wholly bad people. Those labeled 'evil' couldn't have been so all of their lives. Their shift in personality sprouted somewhere –– but nobody is completely and utterly terrible.

And perhaps that is why I stay; why my sister can't process that our father has turned into a madman. We still remember a time when he was still him. When he carried us on his shoulders and sang us goodnight. When he kissed our foreheads everyday before heading out to the mines. When his heart was flooded with pure love for us and our mother.

When he whistles tunes and smiled. When, for us, he'd walk miles.

I've let it go –– the hope that somewhere beneath the layers of hatred and alcohol-induced-blood he is now –– he is still that same man. Hope, it is the only thing stronger than fear. A little hope is effective, a lot of hope is dangerous.

And if fear already causes this much destruction, how can I possibly afford to hope?

[ quote from The Hunger Games used; I do not take credit for it. ] : "Hope, it is the only thing stronger than fear. A little hope is effective, a lot of hope is dangerous."

Hello! I wanted to push on editing my story 'Dark Days Will Become Better', because there were overall just a lot of plot holes and really bad character/relationship development between most of the main characters. ( i.e. I feel as though it seemed like Katniss fell for Peeta simply because he saved her a bunch ).

So, with that said, this will be the regularly updated EDITED version, where a lot will be changed. If you read the original version of this, I'd suggest reading this all. A lot of things will be added in, edited, taken out, etc. to have a smoother plot and storyline.

Please leave me a comment if you're a reader of the unedited version! I love to see who's sticking along for the ride c:
