SPN100 Challenge: merry and bright. These days their relationship seems anything but. 200 words. Set season 7. I had a wonderful day catching up with the Hunter Girls in London, so I don't know why this ended up so dark and angsty.

Merry and Bright

"May your days be merry and bright" – 'White Christmas'

Sam seethed as he listened to the increasingly loud and uncoordinated attempts to unlock the motel room's door that had woken him up. He relented and, with some reluctance, left the warm comfort of his bed to open the door before his brother presumably tried to kick it down. It wouldn't be the first time.

"Ah, Sammy, at last!" slurred Dean, as he pushed past his brother to stumble into the room.

"Drunk again, I see," Sam scolded, despite having already decided that it wasn't worth the effort of trying to have a conversation given his brother's current state.

"Well, I see you're still a little bitch," snarled Dean. "'Sides, 'm not drunk, 'm just... merry."

Sam snorted as he watched his brother's swaying and fumbling attempts at getting undressed. "Yeah, right. I don't just understand why you keep doing this to yourself," he said, shaking his head.

"Everyone says you're so bright, I'm sure you'll figure it out and lecture me about it tomorrow."

"Would you listen if I did?" asked Sam. "Oh, just go to sleep," he said, noting Dean had done exactly that, half-dressed and sprawled on his back.

Sam got back into bed. "Jerk," he whispered.
