The Stable Lad who lay in wait.

It had been 2 hours by Donnie's count since he had woken up after being hit in the head with that terrible horse's hoofs and he wondered when he could make a dash. He could hear the animals talk and realised that they were smarter than he and his fellow humans perceived them. His face was almost in the mud but he kept it up discretely. He wondered if he was badly injured or not but he dare not try because he still doubted that he was alone in the farmyard. Suddenly he heard what appeared to be a few pigs walking around. Suddenly he heard one say "I really do pity those stupid animals they really think that we care for them. And that milk and apples are really key to helping us survive!" another one replied "I can't wait till we tell them and they actually believe us." Another one said "such simpletons only worth to be ruled by us." "yes" they all chimed in. Finally after about an hour of them talking, one said "well comrades I believe that we should turn in now." and they all walked away to the stables.

Donnie thought of how he got to where he was now. He thought of his father and mother and the rest of his family. He also thought of hours before when he was working in the stables thinking of it being hard work but compared his current condition and realised it was easy compared to the current situation. He also though of how the other farmers and stable lads had left him for dead even though they probably doubted that he was actually dead. But of course they ran because they were cruel cowards. He knew he would not have left one of them in the mud to be left for dead. He wondered if his leg would work and so he tried. He wiggled one and it worked and wiggled the other and it worked. He quietly and gently pushed himself up and wiped the mud from his eyes. He looked around and found himself in a small farmyard like place by the road he saw a fence and quickly ran to the fence. He then jumped over it and began to run but it was hard as his head was spinning he felt as he was too tired and hungry. But then he realised that he had a ham and cheese sandwich wrapped in wax paper, residing in his pocket. He pulled it out and began to eat it. He suddenly felt better and he felt he could go farther so he started to walk and walk. Then his head started to spin and he fell and then all was dark.

He woke up in what he believed to be Mr. Jones rented house with Mr. Jones hovering above him. Jones said "Laddie how are ya? Did they torture you I hope not you're a real hero ya know. We found you on the road we thought you were real injured but your okay now." Donnie replied hoarsely "They spoke of tricking the other animals and such evil things. It was quite terrible it was absolutely horrid I tell you. It's almost like one of those Soviet nations. I wonder how the other animals take it." "Ugh laddie they're terrible them pigs thy must be rid of I tell you!" Suddenly they heard the defining roar of a Avro Lancaster Bomber flying through the air but it sounded very close. Jones ran outside to see what was happening. And out their there was a engine from the bomber fall to the ground. He screamed "Watch out Donnie" but it was too late. The engine crushed the room Donnie was sleeping in. And with the simple failing of the Plane's inner workings Donnie was crushed and died on the spot. And so a brave boy was killed in what you could call a freak accident or the better name for it Deus Ex Machina.
