"Are you ready?" Cole asked Leo the moment they were alone. They had discussed their plan in secret, knowing that the sisters would never agree to placing them in danger.
Leo opened his mouth to reply but was cut off by Piper calling from the kitchen. "Dinner's ready!" He shut it quickly. The delicious aromas wafting from the oven had been driving him crazy since he'd arrived. "My Kingdom come -- " he murmured, torn, for a second, between continuing their plan and succumbing to his baser instincts.
Cole's attention had also gone directly to the kitchen and the temptations that their dear chef had laid out for them. "My will undone -- " he added.
Leo looked at him, smiling though surprised. " -- by Piper's cooking!" he finished and broke, at a run, for the kitchen. He wanted the first bite of whatever feast she had concocted for them tonight, and by rights, he, as her husband, should have it!
Cole shimmered into the kitchen at the same time Leo burst through the door. The men glowered at each other, both having had the same plan, but then were disrupted by Prue's voice coming from the table. "It's about time you decided to join us," she spoke, grinning, through a mouthful of food. She chewed the succulent meat slowly, clearly savoring each nibble, before popping a homemade roll into her mouth.
Cole and Leo looked scornfully at the eldest Halliwell even as Piper set her drink down beside her. Prue smiled knowingly back at them from where she sat at the end of the table, her legs crossed before her.
Piper popped Phoebe's hand as her younger sister started to scoop out more casserole. "Leave some for the guys," she admonished, bringing their attention to the fact that there was, perhaps, a spoonful left in the steaming dish of squash, a treat that Piper made, for their tastes, all too rarely.
Leo and Cole silenced the frustrated growls that rose in their throats, turned their eyes Heavenward and Hellward respectively, and then met each other's gaze with a silent shake of their heads. They had been outdone by the sisters yet again!
The End
