The gale blew through the door into the house as Tony quickly took shelter in the warmth inside. The wind had been howling strongly for the last two hours, but he had had to make an emergency trip to the village for supplies. The winter weather matched with the darkness outside, as the clock of the earth ticked towards the end of the day. Hanging his coat, Tony walked into the kitchen to see Paige standing with her back to him, preparing food. A large cut of meat was on a red board in front of her, her apron stained with the blood that must have splashed off the slab of flesh. It looked like they were having roast tonight.

"I'm back! I got the stuff you wanted, although they didn't have yellow capsicum. I got green instead," Tony said to Paige's back.

Suddenly Paige whipped her body around, into an embrace with Tony, still holding the knife dripping with blood from the cut of meat. The metal of the knife nicked Tony's neck as they hugged, blood mingling with the blood from Paige's apron which had made its way onto Tony's shirt, the darker shade of red clashing with the lighter one.

"You know I don't like green. I never have. Looks like you deserve that cut on your neck then." Paige was smiling unapologetic for the cut and just being playful about the green.

"Oh no, it's fine, it'll heal in time. I actually kind of liked it, the feeling of the metal. Makes me want to do this," Tony reached to the wall, grabbed the meat cleaver from its hanging position and made a slice across Paige's shoulder. That blood fell across her dress, turning the white to a ruddy brown. She grabbed her knife and sliced the straps that held her apron on. It slid to the floor, joining with the blood from the cut of meat and the two cuts made by the couple. Paige jumped up now, jabbing her knife into the index finger of Tony's hand, exacting a screech and a laugh. Tony then picked up a smaller knife, still wet from peeling apples, and flung it at Paige's feet. The knife landed in her foot and she reached down, grabbed it and flung it into his other shoulder. The pair were laughing now, the blood pouring out of the various perforations on their bodies and pooling on the floor. Taking the knife from his shoulder, Tony went to hug Paige, at the same moment Paige went to hug Tony. The result was a collision, and the two ended up on their backs on the blood-soaked floor.

"Blood wrestling? We haven't done that for a while?" Paige offered.

"Of course!" agreed Tony, rolling over to Paige on the floor. "I love a good blood wrestle."

Ten minutes later, the skin and clothing of both Paige and Tony were soaked, and stained deep red from the sheer amounts of blood which eventually started spewing out of taps in the wall. They were both exhausted from the wrestling, and stood up, looking at the mess of a kitchen before them.

"Clean it up tomorrow?" Tony asked, looking at Paige for confirmation.

"Tomorrow. Definitely tomorrow." Paige agreed, looking at the kitchen before her.

"But for now… It's time to get this roast in the oven!"
