One day, during a group meeting, Nayuki asks, "What was your life like before you came here?" Hoshitani answers, "I had a normal life. There's nothing special about it. Anyway, how're the auditions, Tsukigami?" Tsukigami says, "You're changing the subject. Now, tell us." Tengenji adds, "Yeah, you boor. You never told us anything except about the fear of yours, so spill."
Hoshitani glares. "Please, just leave it alone." They ask again, and this time, Hoshitani gets up and runs, yelling, "I don't want to talk about it!" He slams the door behind him. Sighing, Kuga says, "We should leave him alone for now. He'll tell us when he's ready." They all nod in agreement.
Hoshitani ends up on the outdoor stage again, right when it starts raining. Panting, he decides to dance that dance he saw two years ago. As he's dancing, he thinks about his past, about how utterly lonely he really was, about how he just wants to forget, getting lost in his own thoughts. Then, he finally remembers the day he saw the senpai that inspired, and about how he looked. 'Otori-senpai...' He smiles to himself, "I'm such a fool." He decides to go back inside as the rain was starting to pour harder.
Once inside the usual practice hall, dripping wet, he spots Otori. Sighing, Otori gets him a towel and drys him off. "Why were you in the rain today?" He asks. Hoshitani is silent before he answers with a sad smile, "I...wanted to forget for awhile... Ne, if you're a fool, then I'm probably a bigger fool then you are, huh." Blinking, Otori asks, "What makes you say that?" Hoshitani answers, "My past...and how much of a fool I am to not realize that you were the one who inspired me two years ago."
Otori is shocked, then asks, "You finally remembered?" Hoshitani nods, "We both smile for our own reasons, senpai." Otori asks, "Do you want to talk about it?" Hoshitani nods again, then they start talking, revealing their pasts to each other.
Otori's family and rocky relationships with Hiragi and Akatsuki, running away, and about how he smiles to deny that anything is wrong when it clearly was. Hoshitani's loneliness, ambition, how he smiles so as to not worry anyone else, to hide his true feelings, about how he doesn't want to burden anyone with the weight of his troubles, and about how he's an expert at running away.
After confessing all that, they look at each other. "An actor smiles when he wants to cry," Otori says, "But, right now is an exception." They hug tight to each other, both of them crying silently, their hands intertwined, the sound of heavy rain engulfing them. They stay like that for awhile. Separating from the embrace, they smile.
"Promise not to tell anyone what was said here?" Otori asks. Hoshitani nods in agreement. "Thank you...for everything," Hoshitani says, a sincere smile on his face. Otori smiles back with his real, small smile.
He presses their foreheads together, getting lost in the moment and each other's eyes before parting. "Ne, promise that we can dance together again soon?" Hoshitani asks. Otori smiles, "Yeah. I promise." Then, he kisses him on the lips, gently, chaste, and sweet. Pulling back, Hoshitani responds with a quick kiss of his own on Otori's cheek. "Goodnight," he says before he leaves. Otori smiles, "Goodnight," then leaves as well.
Once back in bed, Hoshitani and Otori sleep peacefully, dreaming of dancing with each other again.
