There was a big crashing sound echoing in the cell shared by Fiona and Nicole waking the both of them unexpectedly.
"What the hell is this?" Nicole's hiss came from the lower bunk after the silence was restored.
"I don't know" Fiona jumped from the upper bunk and pressed her ear to the wall from which the crashing sound came.
A few knocking sounds were heard from behind it, with a very familiar rhythm.
"Quick!" Fiona gestured to Nicole, "Take the mattresses and line them against the other wall.
Nicole did as she was told, and soon the both of them were cramped behind the two mattresses on the farthest wall from the sound.
Another crashing sound was heard just as they were lowering their heads down, this time followed by the wall collapsing and a cloud of dust and debris filling the tiny cell.
When they dared to look behind the mattresses and into the cell, they saw a man wearing black, crouching and coughing on the dusted floor.
"For god's sake Michael" Fiona came out from behind the makeshift shield of mattresses and stood above him, her arms crossed over her chest "what kind of ridiculous plan did you have here ? blast us all to kingdom come ?"
"Who is he?" Nicole stepped towards her roommate looking curiously at the coughing man who was struggling for air.
"HE is late!" was Fiona's annoyed response as she finally made a move and gave Michael a hand to help him off the floor.
"Late?" He looked at her incredulously "You didn't see me in 4 weeks and all you have to say is - you're late?"
"4 weeks, Michael. My point exactly" She said with a defiant look.
Fi, I just infiltrated a maximum security federal prison to save you, it took more than a little planning you know..." He was trying to get some of the dust off his black combat gear eyeing her in annoyance.
Their eyes locked for a second, and an intensity that was almost palpable engulfed the cell and its occupants, the silence only intensifying the electric connection between them.
"We have to go" Michael's words eventually came out breaking the spell of seeing her again. He breathed deeply and tried to swallow the emotion threatening to drown him, in order to complete the more pressing mission in front of him.
He stepped into the hole created by the explosion and Fiona and Nicole followed his footsteps.
"Is this your man?" He heard Nicole's whispering to Fiona.
"Yes. I guess he is MY man" She answered her with a surprised realization. "I do believe I own him..."
He would have commented on that last cocky remark, but he had to admit, she wasn't being inaccurate in her observation.
