It's been a long day-week-month for O'aka XXIII, what with vindictive Al Bhed and merchant-hating lakes and stowing away on an unfamiliar airship with slightly more familiar people. The Hypello behind the counter -- strange fellow calls himself Barkeep -- serves him plenty of drinks, takes the remaining pieces of gil he's got left.

Clasko can't sleep.

Turbulence isn't half as strong as whatever O'aka just threw back; Barkeep shrugs helpless and stops providing things for him to drown his sorrows in. O'aka's upset and angry and laughing and eagerly dragging an airsick Clasko onto an elevator he's not sure they should trust.

Barkeep shakes his head and watches them go.

The wind rushes almost violently around them. Clasko's nauseated with terror. O'aka chuckles and talks about the past, about the future, about missed opportunities and chances to fix what's gone amiss. The merchant throws an arm around the former-Knight's shoulders and tries not to wobble too much.

Someone brings up chocobos, and for one moment, Clasko's happy.

The air over Gagazet is cold, but the beds above the bar are not. Barkeep's asleep somewhere downstairs; O'aka's on a bed and so is Clasko. They talk of family, fate, and fortune, of debt and stress, and Clasko offers to help, and so does O'aka.

Hands are warm on his back, and warmer elsewhere.

The Celsius is daylit again when they wake up. O'aka searches and Clasko helps him find what he's looking for. The world seems just a bit brighter.

Unspent gil clinks in Clasko's pocket, and O'aka grins.
