It was 1 o'clock on a Friday afternoon. Kate was sitting in her office at the precinct trying to get comfortable. Getting comfortable these days is difficult considering her belly was about the size of an over inflated balloon. "Yes I know you want out little girl. Just have wait another 2 weeks," she said rubbing her belly, hoping that would get the baby to stop moving enough so she can do her paper work. She felt the baby give one good kick and when she realized what happened next her eyes nearly bugged out of her skull. She quickly got up walking quickly out of her office and making her way to the ladies room thankful she was wearing black pants today. Given how much she needs to pee these days, her walking fast to the ladies room wasn't anything unusual. When she got there, she turned her back to the mirror and looked at her backside. "Oh my gosh," she said with a laugh and took out her cell phone. She shot off a text to her husband. Babe u won't believe what just happened I just had an accident in my office. Can u bring me a change of clothes? She looked at her reflection some more when she got a response. Really? Again? Ha ha ha ha ha. But I'm sorry I'm still in my meeting at black pawn. "Dammit," she said. She decided to call Martha who was staying at the loft while her place was being painted. "Hi darling," Martha said answering her phone. "Martha would you be able to bring by some clothes for me?"
"What happened?"
"Let's just say I was sitting in my office, doing paper work when the baby kicked my bladder and now New York has a second Niagara Falls" she said with a laugh.
"Darling been there, done that," Martha said. "I'll be there in 10 minutes."
"You're a life saver." Kate said hanging up. She decided she should go back to her office since people would think something is wrong if she stayed in the ladies room for 10 minutes. She tried to walk back seeming as natural as possible. That wasn't easy since she felt like a baby needing a diaper change and her damp pants were sticking to her legs. She was waiting impatiently when Martha showed up. "Oh my gosh Martha thank you," Kate said closing the office door behind Martha and locking it before closing the blinds so nobody could look in from the squad room. "here I brought you a towel and some lysol to clean your chair," Martha aid handing the bag to Kate.
"I'm so embarrassed," Kate said as she began cleaning.
"You're embarrassed? Richard did the same thing to me," Martha said as she turned around to let Kate change in privacy "Luckily I was wearing a dress. I kept a spare pair of panties in my purse after the first accident I had. I was walking to meet a friend for lunch when he moved and it all came out and made a puddle on the side walk. But this being New York, and people let their dogs do their business where ever they want, so it just looked like a dog peed there."
"Wow, so what did u do?" Kate asked as she finished changing.
"I took off my shoes, walked into a gas station bathroom, changed, washed my shoes and continued to lunch with my friend." Martha said turning back around to face Kate.
"Well at least she had the decency to do this when I was alone," Kate said putting the dirty clothes, towels and Lysol back in the bag.
"I will drop this stuff in the wash when I get back to the loft," Martha said taking the bag from Kate.
"Martha you are a life saver," Kate said giving her a hug.
"What are mother in laws for?" Martha said as she unlocked the office door and walked out.
