Ch. 1 Hazel's POV
"Come on Hazel just ask him!" Calypso urged. "The dance is in less than a month and you STILL have no date."
Hazel and Calypso, better known as Cally, were standing in next to their lockers staring across the hall at football star Frank Zhang.
"I can't Cally." Hazel said, sighing. "He's popular, athletic, good looking, and I'm well, none of those. He'd never as much as look at me, much less ask me to the biggest dance of the year!"
Calypso sighed in exasperation. "Well you've been mooning over him for almost a year, and now you are passing up the chance to make a move on him? He probably won't stay single for long. I heard Kelli was planning to ask him."
Kelli was the cheer captain and by far the meanest of them. No. Hazel would allow that to happen. She took a deep breath. "I'm going in"
Frank's POV
Frank was getting his books from his locker. He glanced over at Hazel and saw she was talking with Calypso. He loved how Hazel's hands moved when she talked and it was adorable how she expressed emotion through her eyes. She and Calypso turned toward him and he quickly glanced away. He felt her eyes on him as he awkwardly fumbled for his books. Man, she made him nervous whenever she glanced his way with her stunning gold eyes.
"Hey man"
"Ah! Man you scared me." Frank said picking up the textbook he had dropped as green eyed Percy Jackson walked up behind him.
"Sorry." Percy said laughing, not sounding sorry at all. "But I wanted to ask how you were doing, looking for a date for the dance."
"Um, yeah. About that" Frank mumbled. "I think Kelli's gonna ask you." Percy said. "What?! Her?!" Frank almost dropped his textbook again. Kelli was one of the only 3 girls he did NOT want to take to the dance.
"Um…yeah" Percy said. "Anyway dude, you've gotta ask someone soon. The dance is in like, a month. You got anyone in mind?"
"Yeah" Frank said, glancing casually in Hazel's direction. "Her? You're kidding me" Percy said incredulously. "I mean, she's cute but she's not popular so it wouldn't be right for you to ask her."
"What wrong with dating someone who's not popular?" Asked Frank a little too angrily.
"Whoa calm down. It's up to you dude" and with that Percy left.
