During the month of November Richard, Darlene, Jamie, and Tina, visited Rachel in the hospital. Thanksgiving wasn't the same without Rachel. During early December Darlene prayed hard that Rachel would wake up from her coma. She even fasted for a few days. Then…a miracle happened. The day before Rachel's 19th birthday (December 14th), she awoke from her coma!
She sat up in bed, took the oxygen mask off of her face, and pressed the buzzer right next to her. A doctor came in, and was happy to see she was finally out of her coma. She asked the doctor what happened, and the doctor told her that she was in a coma due to getting stabbed in the shoulder with scissors. She asked where Jamie was, and the doctor told her that she was at home with her parents.
Richard, Darlene, and Jamie arrived at the hospital with some clothes for Rachel. They were overjoyed that their prayers were answered. After Rachel got dressed she was released from the hospital, and went home with her family.
The next day December 15th was Rachel's 19th birthday. Jamie and The Carruthers celebrated by going out to eat. On Christmas Day they invited Tina over for Christmas dinner, and to open presents.
On New Year's Eve they invited relatives over as they counted down to the new year 1990. They looked forward to the new year as a fresh start to putting the horrible memories of 1988 and 1989 behind them—knowing The Haddonfield Murders were finally over!
