He is her sun.

As bright as the yellow star above their heads; as necessary as it was to live; as strong as the will it takes to shine throughout the whole day, giving her light. Giving them all light.

He is her sun.

The sun would die, and it would wither. But as she looks at him under the very long, pink bangs partly covering her vision, she knows that day is not even close. That first thought would not come true any time soon. He's too young and full of energy. She knows.

He smiles. He laughs. He makes the stars at night seem less radiant. He's a hero. He's all she could wish for and would wish for. He's irrevocably loud, too, but that can't be helped. That, she muses, is one of the many things that make him unique as he is. Because he's unique, and she knows.

He is her sun.

The sun that kept her—made her—going. The sun that never gave up—never gives, even to this day. The sun that taught her so many things about life, without opening his mouth to say so. The sun that loved her. The sun that loved her even when she loved another.

She still loves another. But she can't have two suns. Too stern to be another sun, too dark to be the moon, and too obscure to be a star. But still, she loves another. Dark, mysterious, prideful, stern, serious, indifferent, quiet. He has every little trait opposite to the sun's.

She still doesn't know why she loves that man, but does she need a reason? She wishes she had a reason not to love her sun, though. He's all she could wish for and would wish for but she can't—won't—love him.

For one day, he would find another. He would love another. He would laugh, he would smile, he would make the stars seem less radiant. He would be a hero. He would be all that she could wish for and would wish for. He would be loud, and unique. He would be with another, and marry, and have kids.

But even if all of that happened, and she would still be with another man, she knows he would always be him. Hers.

And Sakura hopes that, when the day comes and Naruto kisses the bride—not her—he knows, too. They are best friends.

She knows nothing could ever change that. She knows Naruto will be Hinata's sun one day. And she knows that she shouldn't be this selfish, but she is. And after everything is done and there's no turning back, she wishes he knows, too.

He was her sun.
