Twilight

You gaze at me with smiling eyes
And speak in riddles, truths, and lies
"Come back to me," you often say
When had I ever gone away?

We met again under a rosy sky
But on your words I can't rely
You moved to strike at the setting sun
Time froze; you woke to find no one

Three times in the town by the rolling sea
Three times you cried, "come back to me!"
Three times my face you gazed upon
Three times we met; now I am gone.
