A/N; This is my first time writing something like this, so I apologize if some things seem weird/off. Also, Kris is a dude, deal with it. Please R&R, as I am always open to criticism.
Chapter 1; 'Friend'
'Friend'
Susie never thought that she would ever use THAT word, much less, MEAN it either. At least, that was until she practically saved not only her life, but Kris's and Ralsei's as well.
She had also never imagined herself to NOT fight. Then again, there was a first time for everything.
But that's when they awoke after sealing the Fountain of Darkness. Immediately, she remembered checking on Kris, making sure her new friend was there, and not only that, but she also remembered her promise as she waved him goodbye before stepping out into the evening sun.
"God damn, it's bright..." Susie simply muttered to herself tiredly. Rubbing her eyes, she sat off down the road, dreading what her so called 'Parents' might say when she turned up so late. Most the time, they would usually scream, call her an excuse, and send her off to bed without dinner, only to hear her adoptive parents screaming at each other. She didn't like thinking much about it.
"hOi s0osie!" the purple monster quickly jumped back, realizing that she had almost trampled one of her classmates. On any other day, she would probably cuss the cat-like monster out and kick it out of her way without another thought, but she had changed.
"Erm... hi" she muttered to him, trying to ACT instead of FIGHT the little monster.
"y0U d1Dn'T m3An wAt u sEd ab0t tEm'S eGg EaRl13r, d1D u?" it asked her with it's smile. Susie thought for a minute before answering.
"N - no, I didn't. I'm sure that eventually your egg will hatch" Susie lied to the monster who smiled back with glee as it ran off. Susie rounded the corner with a sigh as she got slowly closer to her own personal hell, but not before being stopped by Officer Undyne
"You aren't causing trouble, are you?" the fish cop asked her, glaring at the purple lizard-like monster.
"If I were, I wouldn't be here, would I?" Susie huffed out as she just kept walking, soon getting to the more unkempt side of town. She dodged past a few dog-like monsters smoking and another one sharpening what looked to be a wicked knife. Soon enough, she was at the front door of what she had been forced to call 'Home' for the past 5 years.
"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?" the gnashing voice of Susie's drunk adoptive father stung in her ears as she walked through the door, letting it close behind her. Her dad loomed over her, waiting for an answer.
"I was with a friend" she muttered, hoping that would satisfy him. Unfortunately for her, it didn't.
"Don't tell LIES!" he roared, smashing his beer bottle on the wall next to him. "Who would want to even come NEAR a monster like you anyways?" he smacked her hard across the face for her supposed 'lie' before screaming in her face once more, spit flying out. "GO TO YOUR ROOM AND DON'T COME OUT FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT YOU FILTHY EXCUSE!"
"Whatever..." Susie thought this to herself once she was in her small bedroom. On the outside, aside from the large, dark slap mark across her face, she would seem fine to any bypasser, but on the inside, she was breaking down. Every day, she would bare through the same treatment. It was the whole reason she developed her current mentality. As she collapsed on her bed, Susie yearned for the Dark World. She already missed Lancer. "I'll come back to ya lil' guy" Susie closed her eyes and tried to go to sleep as tears leaked out of them. Was it true that no one would love a monster like her?
