When Raito walked into the room, he didn't expect to see Misa run past him crying her eyes out while L sat at the couch, smiling victoriously. Sitting before the hunched-over detective was a Nintendo Wii, and the popular video game Super Smash Bros. Brawl was currently being played. Sighing, Raito sat down next to L and asked, "...What did you do now, Ryuuzaki, making Misa cry like that?"
"Ah, you made it just in time, Yagami-kun!" L replied, "If you must know, that sore loser Misa only ran off because I beat her TEN times in a row in this amazing game! I am truly the champ of the world! So...would you like to play against me?"
If only to have a chance to possibly beat the shit out of L at his own game, Raito picked up a spare controller and prepared to play. L chose to play as Bowser, while Raito decided to use Marth for the battle. Raito smiled to himself and thought, 'Heh! This idiot really thinks he can win as Bowser of all characters? And against a top-contender like Marth? What a 'tard!'
At that moment, Ryuk returned after a long unsuccessful hunt for wild apples.
Noticing the game, the shinigami let out a gasp and cried, "OMG! RAITO! HEY, RAITO! PLAY AS DIDDY KONG! PLAY AS FRICKIN' DIDDY KONG! DO YOU HEAR ME? PLAY AS DIDDY KONG, DAMMIT!" Raito ignored everything and prepared to "Brawl" against L; Marth vs. Bowser...
Raito was in utter shock; how had he lost ten times in a row laying as Marth, Fox, Wolf and Toon Link while L only switched between Bowser and Sonic for every fight?! IT...IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE!!
"HOW...HOW DID YOU BEAT ME? RYUUZAKI...YOU MUST HAVE CHEATED! YOU ONLY PLAYED AS SONIC AND BOWSER FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! EVEN MORE, I PLAYED AS MOST OF THE TOP CHARACTERS IN THE GAME!" Raito exclaimed furiously while L downed an entire pudding cup in one gulp. Ryuk was also a bit depressed because Raito didn't play as Diddy Kong at all.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk...It's rather simple, Yagami-kun," L replied with a grin, "I am the winner...and you are the loser." Raito gritted his teeth and tried his best to control himself.
'Dammit! If I just knew this guy's name...I would make him lose a battle to me first, and then die! YES! THAT IS WHAT I MUST DO! I WILL NOT ONLY TAKE HIS TITLE AS SMASH BROS. KING, BUT I WILL TAKE HIS SOUL, AS WELL! WA HA HAH HA!'
"Yagami-kun...you're laughing out loud to yourself again. Anyway, let's do one more match...I heard Watari was showing the others his mad skillz at playing No More Heroes..." L muttered as he prepared the next brawl. With determination, Raito grabbed the controller and prepared for one more battle.
Ryuk grabbed his pretty boy host and shouted, "OKAY, RAITO! YOU CAN DO THIS! JUST GO IN THERE AND TRY YOUR BEST...WHILE PLAYING AS DIDDY KONG! JUST PLAY AS THAT STICKIN' MONKEY WITH THAT JACKET PACK JUST THIS ONCE...FOR ME! OR...I'LL WRITE YOUR NAME DOWN BEFORE THE 12TH VOLUME!"
Although Raito didn't understand most of Ryuk's rant, he gave in and decided to play as Diddy Kong. And, after a long grueling match that nearly lasted an hour...Raito ended up winning.
"...Yagami-kun..."
"...Yes, Ryuuzaki?"
"70 percent chance you're Kira..."
"DAMMIT!!"
"80 percent..."
"S-SHUT UP, RYUUZAKI! YOU CAN'T EXPECT TO WIN ALL THE TIME!"
"...Yes, I can..."
"..."
For the rest of the day, both Raito and L were left in foul moods...
