I live in a weird world theirs no fun for a person like me I am a three. I live in which used to be The United States. It was taken over in 2025. Now 100 years later it is different every person is given a level the same as their parents. Every level means something different level 0 means you are the part of the royal family, 1 means you work for them or you are a part of the government and their family, 2 means you are a merchant, and last but not least if you are a 3 like me you are the people who are poor and work in the mines and the girls are sometimes slaves to the higher levels. Well my name is katniss and I live with my mother and sister. My dad died when I was 12 and now I am the main person in the family. I am 16 and I just dropped out of school so I can try and hunt more so we can live. My sister's name is Prim and I love her more than anything that's why I want her to stay in school so she can maybe get to a different level. It is very hard to jump levels but I can be done. My mom's name is Jane she is really depressed since my dad died now she just sleeps all the time. I hate her for this and I just want her to get up off her butt and help but she won't no matter what I do. So today I am going to go out in the woods it is punishable by death to hunt but I don't care I do what I need to do to live. I grab my dad's hunting jacket and go. I am going to see my friend Gale in the woods he is 18 and we help each other. Today is like any other we go through the part of the fence that has a hole in it and start walking in the woods but as I do I see someone I start calling "GALE!" but as I do I find out it is not him and some guy is chasing me and he catches me and holds me to the ground.
