The summer heat was rising off the ground in visible waves. It was only the
first week of June and already Hermione, Ron, and Harry were forced to seek
refuge out of the sun. They sat in the Weasley's house bored to tears at
the lack of activity that faced them. Well, Hermione and Ron were bored.
Harry had fond a means of occupation. Mere seconds after arrival, only half
an hour before, Harry had run off to find Ginny, leaving his two friends in
an incredibly awkward silence.
Ron glanced uncomfortably at the stairs, which Harry had disappeared up, then towards Hermione. He had always considered her beautiful but now she was stunning and it left his mouth dry and his palms sweating in nervousness.
"So, Ron..." Hermione started finally, completely irked by the quiet that had filled the room.
"Yes?" he squeaked, then looked back up the stairs. "Where do you think Harry went?"
"To find Ginny probably." It was no secret that Harry liked Ron's sister, or that his feelings were returned.
Ron was baffled by her response. "Why would he do that?"
Then again Ron wasn't always the brightest. "Well, that tends to be what one does when they like someone."
"What are you talking about?" Harry liked Ginny? Scratching his head in confusion he looked at his friend expectantly, hoping that she was just making some horrible joke.
Just then Harry and Ginny walked down the stairs, holding hands and laughing. Ron's jaw dropped and Hermione could only sit back and watch as he struggled to pick it back up. She knew that he was going to flip out. Ron was decidedly protective over his friends but when it came to Ginny he was a hundred times worse. Even if it was Harry who stole Ginny's heart Ron would not approve at all.
"Hey, Guys."
"What is going on here?!" Yep, he was going to blow his top.
Harry looked at his best friend nervously but didn't drop Ginny's hand. "Well, you see Ron, Ginny and I are..."
"You are..."
"Well, we are..." Harry felt Ginny give him a reassuring squeeze and he looked Ron in the eyes. "We're together now."
"That's great you guys." Hermione said from her place next to Ron on the couch. However, she shut her mouth when Ron gave her a purely livid look.
"You're...you're.... What do you mean you are together now?" He directed the question at his sister, who was now trembling by her boyfriend's side.
"I...I mean we...I mean..." Ginny turned sharply on her heels and ran back up the stairs.
"Great, Ron. Now look what you did." Harry turned to follow her.
"Harry! Let me go talk to Ginny." He looked at Hermione and nodded his head. He needed to say a few things to Ron anyway. He nodded and Hermione got up from the couch and walked up the stairs to talk to Ginny.
