"Lovely."
Marinette rolls her eyes, completely exhausted from a day's work as she notices Chat Noir's familiar blond hair flash before her eyes, ignoring his empty comment as she properly settles herself on a chair within the balcony of her room. She wonders what nonsense he has in store for her tonight, scowling. She's the one who ends up leaving her room and waiting for him in her balcony, anyway. She wants to deal with this.
Chat Noir plops off the balcony rails – swiftly – and settles himself next to her, this time staying quiet as he gazes up at the dark sky. He knows she isn't the one to piss off, but he feels something's off with her. "What's up?"
Her sigh fills the area, and it's probably the heaviest one he's heard her emit. She responds, "I'm tired."
Why? – is what he wants to ask, curiosity gnawing at his throat – bell – but he stays completely mute, knowing better than to pry. His fingers impatiently drum at his arms, biting his inner cheek. The atmosphere's grown awkward, and it has him sensing himself out of place. "Er… If you want me to leave…" he begins to trail off with a speck of flatness. It's the last thing he wants, to leave her, especially in her down state of mind.
"No," she answers softly. Her hand moves to her head, running it through his hair, which emits a small purr from Chat Noir. Marinette sulks in her chair, gazing ahead and avoiding her scrutiny. Although it's Christmas, she's opted to be left alone from everyone – the holiday isn't her preferred.
Dubiously, he continues to gaze at her, but can't help the next purr that vibrates through his throat at her hand – nails digging into his scalp and massaging. It feels so good. His body hovers closer to her, to which he notices she holds no objections.
"Merry Christmas," the young lass suddenly blurts – which sounded so involuntarily on her part. Despite this, he chuckles as his eyes catch the faint scene of stars in the sky that aren't blinded by city lights and answers.
"Merry Christmas to you as well."
