Chapter 1

Fly Away
The horses were out in the field, filling themselves with all the grass they wanted. Their gleaming coats shined in the sunlight, showing their muscular legs and body. You could definitely tell that the horses were powerful, VERY powerful. Addy, stood beside me and was trying to call them over. "Click, K-Looak, CHss!" She clicked at them, but they didn't even look up. She continued, kissing, clicking, and clucking the air.
"Addy, they're not gonna come to you, you know." I rolled my eyes.
"Just watch and learn." Addy replied, fiercely.
The owner's worker, Pedro pulled up with the feed cart. The horses wildly galloped over to us, snorting, and racing. "I told you!" Addy bragged.
"Whatever."
"¿Quieres ir en el pasto? " Pedro questioned us.
"What is he saying?" I whispered to Addy. Addy had taken Spanish, but only for a couple months. Pedro tried to explain. He gestured with his hands to the pasture. Meanwhile, me and Addy finally figured out what he was saying. He meant "Do you want to go in the pasture?" and assuming, play with the horses. So, me and Addy climbed over the fence and started playing with the horses. Addy, being the show off, said,
"I bet i can run and jump on it's butt from behind!" I told Addy that it was unsafe, and stupid. But why would she listen to me? No, Addy being the stubborn dare-devil, got a running start, and took off. She was about a foot away when...The horse noticed. It reared, and kicked Addy in the head. The horse cantered along the fence, being wound-up from being spooked. I rushed over to Addy.
Pedro had already driven off, and I was left alone screaming for help. A couple heard me about two houses away, got in their car and drove off searching, in curiosity. I was screaming bloody murder. "HELLLLLPPP! SOMEBODY, PLEEEAASEE!" The couple pulled up and rushed over to me and Addy. I told them what had happened, and they took us to the hospital. The nurse called mine and Addy's parents.
When Addy's parents got to the hospital, the doctor came out with the news. "I'm sorry, but she did not make it...We did everything we could." I was crying, for my best friend had just died, in my arms, I let it happen. It was all my fault. The parents didn't even get to say goodbye.."
I am Lacy Joelle Myers, and this has been officially declared, THE WORST DAY OF MY LIFE, so far...
