Disillusionment
She turned abruptly in her chair, feeling eyes burning into her back.
There was nothing there but shelves of books and a single window. She stared at the window momentarily before scolding herself for being so paranoid. She doubted anyone would climb, using magic or otherwise, several floors up the castle wall to stare in at her as she wrote her Transfiguration essay.
Marthina Squarlott once considered that human transfiguration –
The eyes were once again on her.
She held her quill still, listening carefully for a sound of someone else's presence in the musty library.
Behind her a floor board squeaked and she turned her head wildly.
Again, she saw nothing.
But then a movement, so subtle but enough for her eyes to see, drew her attention to the magic at hand.
Grabbing her wand, she raised to her feet and in three quick strides she tapped it sharply in the seemingly empty air. She'd hit something. The transformation was quick as the disillusionment charm was lifted.
She stood back, eyes narrowed slightly as Draco Malfoy appeared before her with a smirk covering his pale face
"Hello Malfoy," she said with a sardonic grin. "What brings you to this part of the neighbourhood?"
"You always seem so surprised to see me Granger," Malfoy drawled.
"I've told you already that I'm not interested, Malfoy." The statement was plain and she made to turn away. "Take your spying games somewhere else and leave me alone."
Malfoy just smirked and turned on the spot, heading for the exit. Over his shoulder he risked another comment.
"Perhaps if I come back naked you'll reconsider?"
"I think not, Malfoy!"
But once he was gone she smiled pleasantly to herself.
Part of her hoped he did.
